Whole Body Vibrations machines – How they work, and what they do for your fitness

Sep 8th 2015 at 1:49 AM

Whole Body Vibrations (WBV) machines are part of a whole new tier of exercise and fitness equipment. They’ve been around for a while, but the new generation of WBV machines really is a step up and beyond anything previous.

The working principle of these machines is to use vibrations as stimulation for both the whole body and specific muscle groups. Vibrations generate microscopic muscular contractions. Muscular contractions are the “machinery” of muscular operations.

Typically, a WBV machine will use a platform on which the user stands, usually with grips or handles. As you can see from this configuration, the user is in full contact with the vibratory mechanism. Variations of this basic profile include partial contact with the vibration machine, and specific exercises and routines to develop particular muscle groups.

This technology is now so advanced that a whole range of exercises and routines can be created for specific sports like golf, athletics, and, well, everything and anything. The other major use of whole body vibration machines is for general fitness and health purposes.

This use of WBV technology is surprisingly common and very popular. It’s used in general training, in sports clinics, rehabilitation, and as a general home fitness asset. Vibration stimulation also affects circulation, bone density, and even metabolism. The principle is essentially the same as for the muscle groups – The vibratory stimulation promotes organic functions.

If you’re not familiar with whole body vibration machine, there’s a company in Texas called Power Vibe, one of the original pioneers of the use of whole body vibrations which is a great source of information. This company sells top quality WBV machines and also provides a very useful range of videos and literature about the technology. They even give away a free e-book as a download.
