What is the Red Shirt Friday Tradition?

Jul 7th 2011 at 10:48 AM

First of all, a brief explanation of what the Red Shirt Friday Tradition is not. It is not political in any way nor does it show support for or against the Global War on Terror.

The Red Shirt Friday Tradition is very simply a way for us to show our support and appreciation for our Uniformed Military Personnel, who have volunteered to serve their country in a time of need. The United States, Canada, Australia, England and other countries that that offer Military support for this on going effort also observe the Tradition. The Red Shirt Friday Tradition came into being some time after 911, in support of our Uniformed Guys and Gals who offered to protect our countries and hunt down our enemies who would destroy our way of life. The Tradition is no more and no less.

Deb and I have two sons that heard the Call of Duty in the fall of 2002, so we soon there after picked up on the idea and have never missed a Friday of wearing our Red Shirts to show our support. We never miss wearing Red Shirts of Friday, Until They All Come Home!

We also recently started a web site to further explain the idea and it is also our way of showing support. We encourage you to explore the site and make comments on the different articles as well. It is an on going project as you will see, Until They All Come Home!

Thank You For the Support and helping us spread the word.

Your Texas Friends,

Sam and Deb Burgess

Mabank, Texas

PS: If your company is a supporter, let us know, we would love to do an article to show our support to you and the proper recognition.
