Usage of Lead Alloy in different sectors - Metenere

Apr 29th 2015 at 12:28 AM

The lead is used for a variety of purposes. The lead is most commonly used as a pure metal, alloyed with other metals, or as chemical compounds. Even though the lead is considered as safest metal yet, as per recent discoveries these are poisonous. It might also lead to vomiting, spasm, nausea, high blood pressure and extreme fatigue. The lead is also used as

Battery

The pure lead is used mainly to make the grid or plate of the battery. It is used as a principal consumption for the Pb Acid storage battery.

Rolled Extrusions

The lead is also brought into use to make Rolled Extrusions. The lead sheet are used in the building industry to prevent the water penetration & for roofing and cladding.

Pigments

The lead is also used in paints and has been severely curtailed to eliminate or reduce health hazards.

Cable Sheathing

The lead is known for its high ductility, good extrusion ability, relatively low temperature & excellently proven corrosion resistance, which brings its usage in the industrial and marine environments, soils and chemicals.

Lead alloys

The lead is known for forming alloys with many types of metal like tin, copper, arsenic, antimony, bismuth, cadmium, and sodium. These are mainly used in making the bearings, solder, antifriction metals, and type metal. The Tin lead alloy is high on demand for making the metal pipes and several other items. The tin is known to better bond with lead and so this alloy is highly recommendable.

The alloy is considered to be better than pure metal as it is stronger and can be brought in special use. The preparation of alloys is done on the basis of melting of two or more metals. These metals are melted by using a hot furnace to mix the metals together and thus forms an alloy. The  metal formed are later cooled down, thus forming a new metal.

While the lead sheets and wires are brought into use for wide purposes the lead batteries are high on demand. This is because it is mainly used as car batteries. Other than this the lead are used in

· Coloring agent in ceramic glazes

· As projectiles

· Lead electrodes are used in electrolysis because it is not a reactive metal.

· Used in glass of TV and computer screens to provide a shield from harmful     radiations. Also used in bearings, weights in sports equipments, ammunition and crystal glassware.

Overall, the lead alloys like solder and pewter are known to have wide usage in vast industrial applications. The lead compounds are also brought into use with petrol. There are several lead alloy manufacturers in India who are capable of providing you best of these services as per your requirement.
