Touch Screen Panels – Understanding The Technology

Sep 29th 2014 at 3:26 AM

Touch screen panels have started to gain popularity in the last few years at a very fast pace. In today’s date, you cannot overlook them if you desire to work among the latest in relation to computer technology or TV watching expediency. As a matter of fact, the chief operating systems have commenced their editions precisely for touch screen panels. You can now get these mega modern panels for fairly a reasonable price range. However, these panels have certainly increased their usability far ahead of the standard office and home use. Here is a glance at the gradations of this evolving fashion.

The technology being used in the touch screen panels categorizes them into three groups:

· RESISTIVE MACHINERY PANELS: this technology has two coatings of conductive metallic coatings, with resistive characteristics. These coatings include a glass panel. Whenever the screen is touched by you, the two layers come in contact with each other at that particular point and the computer then detects the touch point by recognising the change in the electric field. This is the most economical format of this technology. Although, it does not provide a 100% clarity of image. Whether you use a gloved touch or a stylus, the touch effect would get registered. But it has to be kept in mind that the use of sharp objects can damage it.

· CAPABLE TECHNOLOGY PANELS: in this there is a thin layer on the top which stocks up an incessant electric charge, under which is the glass panel. While touching the screen, some of this charge tends to pass on to the person operating it. This decreases the capability of the panel at the point of touch, which the computer detects and tries to understand what action has taken place. These are being used widely in kiosks, POS systems and industrial technology and are also very durable. It cannot be activated with a gloved touch or a stylus.

· EXTERIOR ACOUSTIC WAVE MACHINERY PANELS: in this a sequence of transducers are placed at the sides of the glass panel. A series of reflectors are also used for creating an invisible grid on the glass panel surface which is made up of ultrasonic waves. Whenever the panel is touched by the user, the point on the grid where it was touched gets absorbed and the charge is collected by the transducers, which helps the controller to understand the action that has taken place on the screen. The image clarity is of the highest level here, making these the most expensive touch panels one can get.

There is no meaning in investing your money high tech gadgets if you are not comfortable in working with them. You should opt for the one which is the best suited for you is durable, has a good reputation, is compatible with your working ability, is not complex, does not get damaged easily, suits your budget, is portable if you want to carry it around with you to your work place, has a good battery life, and service centres for it are available easily. Same goes for touch screen panels.
