Tips & Tricks For The Frugal Minded

Jun 24th 2015 at 3:45 AM

Since you are reading this, you probably understand the difference between frugal minded and cheap. Being frugal means being economically conscious and with the state of the global economy, everyone should be frugal. Being cheap is a matter of character. If you are a member of a big family, you understand how important every penny gets at the end of the month, plus, most of the frugal tips will help you not just to save money, they are also environmentally friendly.

Without any further introduction, if you are looking for ways to save money where you in fact should do so, here is a list of tips and tricks that are not just from the top of one’s mind, but checked and proved methods as well.

· Create a weekly menu grocery list

With good organization of your shopping list, you can save money in different ways. First, all unnecessary expenses that you can make are limited to one visit. If you keep yourself away from day to day grocery shopping you will have a lot less opportunities to lose money. When you are organizing your daily menu, do include more vegetables.

Not just because meat is getting more and more expensive, but because it is good for you as well. This way you are combining being frugal with being healthy and you might be surprised how much you will actually help preserving our environment too.

· Couponing for electronic devices

If you really do need that new iPad or a smartphone, at least you can be patient and look out for a discount. You should be aware that most electronic devices cost as much as they do just because of the brands, and the actual price for producing those same devices is significantly small.

Smartphones for example, are the top selling device for years now, and companies are trying to reduce the cost of production on a daily basis to meet the demands. It is only smart to try to save on your purchase too. Coupons are getting more and more popular, especially with online engines like Amazon and eBay where you can use more than one for the same purchase, so at least you can do is research the deals before shopping.

· Household savings

Yes, we will mention that you simply have to disconnect all devices that you are not using at the moment, turn off the lights when you leave the room and use water responsibly. Your water heater should be turned off as well, especially during the summer days, and turning down the thermostat for just a few degrees won’t matter that much if you are dressed well.

All of these things you already know, you probably know how you are helping the environment by doing this also, but it doesn’t have to be all that demanding. In fact, make a game out of it. Record patterns and compare your actions with your bills at the end of the month. This will keep you motivated for sure.

· Get online

Most of your bills can be paid online and you don’t even have to do anything. Make your online payment system save you money in the long run and devise a payment plan with your bank that will automatically charge your bills the moment your paycheck arrives. This way you are not just saving money, but you are helping yourself to stay out of debt.

· Get the best value out of thrift stores and swaps

This advice should be considered by frugal mothers and soon to be parents too. It is only reasonable to find for example, kids clothing consignment store when they are growing so fast. Why would you pay insane amounts for something your child will use for just a few months at best?

With low prices you can always donate once you have no use for it. If you keep looking for come ups, you will find out that you can find really  great high quality clothing for small prices, and just because it comes from a thrift store it doesn’t mean it’s been used.

All advices are checked and proven, and if you have some of your own do share them. If you have more specific details and want to share your findings, there are even online communities that will appreciate your help and help you stay frugal as well.
