Timeline of Halloween

Oct 25th 2013 at 12:27 AM

Halloween is one of the most celebrated events in United States of America. When we peer over the history of Halloween, it is found that the early celebrations included parties which were held at the harvest. In such gatherings, stories of dead were shared , and fortune predictions were made. Singing & dancing was another way of rejoicing the event.

In the late 1800s, the prime focus of U.S. celebrations were more deviated to community get-togethers. The concept earned fame owing to the less concerns about pranks, witchcraft & ghosts.

As we entered the 20th century, the most common way celebrations at the event of Halloween were parties for both adults & children. The highlighted features of these parties were festive costumes, food, games & fun.

In the mid of 20th century, the old practice of Trick-or-Treating started again. Halloween turned into a holiday as an attraction to young people. The fame of Trick-or-Treating had its reasons. It was a way for the entire community to rejoice the event, in a relatively inexpensive way. The theory behind trick-or-treating is that if you give away small treats to others, then you can avoid getting played by the Halloween tricks.
