The Cruise Of The Midge Is The Story Of A Brave Sailor And His Life On Sea

Nov 4th 2015 at 10:31 PM

Being an avid reader, I read everything I get my hands on. And since I enjoy reading, I am member of many libraries and also I have a small library at home. I read fiction, drama, short stories, novels, essays and poetry. Here in this article, I will discuss a novel.

The Cruise of the Midge is the best novel in my opinion. It has everything - thrill, suspense, drama, engagements, action and escape – readers look in a novel. The story starts with an English sailor boarding a frigate Midge. He was going to fight with slavers and Spaniards in West-Indian waters. The protagonist is a brave man and intelligent as well.

The story moves with the protagonist’s fight with the pirates and his escape. Also there are engagements of the hero but he is focused on his job that is to prevent slavers from attacking passenger ships. The portray of sea life of a sailor and his experience of coming out from deadly storms and his brave fights with the pirates makes an interesting read.

The Cruise of the Midge isn’t a true story but many of present day sailors would find the story matching with their life. Sailors are travelers. They go to places, meet new people and then come back to their homeland with memories. Here the sailor is a savior. His job is to prevent pirates and slavers from coming close to passenger and cargo ships.

Life in sea is difficult. What I like in the novel is portrayal of life of a sailor. Human aren’t made to live on water but they do. In sea, there are storms that can even turn a ship upside down. Sailors brave health hazards in addition to dangers of accidents. It is a nice story and I enjoyed it reading on the web.

One of my friends gave me a link of a free reading platform where I found The Cruise of the Midge. As soon as I clicked on the name of the novel, it opened on my computer screen. I could scroll up and down and also turn the pages with a click of the mouse. Reading online is not only interesting but cost effective and time saving as well.

You don’t have to buy a book and find a safe place to keep the book. When you want to read the book, you go to the reading platform and enjoy reading.
