The Alpha Male – Wolverine
A fictional superhero, Wolverine appears in the Marvel Comics series which is commonly associated with the X-Men. Though he was born as James Howlett, he is known as Logan, while his mutant name is Wolverine.
Wolverine possesses, as his name would suggest, animalistic senses, enhanced bodily capabilities, in addition to a capacity for self-healing.
Although Wolverine is frequently depicted as a member of X-Men, the Avengers, and Alpha Flight, he does portray a somewhat solitary disposition.
The character made his first appearance in the final panel of The Incredible Hulk No. 180, after which, he gained a full appearance in No. 181 which was dated to November, 1974.
After the conclusion of North America’s involvement in the Vietnam War in April, 1975, Wolverine was one of the many resilient libertines that emerged in popular culture. His almost innate desire to utilize brute and deadly force together with his brooding temperament became a standard towards the end of the 1980s for comic book antiheroes.
The character, as a result of this, became a firm favorite among fans of the ever-growing popularity attached to the X-Men franchise, owned by 20th Century Fox.
Since 1988, Wolverine has been a feature of his own solo comic.
He has made appearances in most adaptations of X-Men, which includes video games, animated television series, as well as the X-Men film series distributed by 20th Century Fox, whereby he has been portrayed by actor Hugh Jackman in every one of the seven films.
The series of films include:
- X-Men (2000)
- X2 (2003)
- X-Men: The Last Stand (2006)
- X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009)
- X-Men: First Class (2011)
- The Wolverine (2013)
- X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014)
