Tenex Capital Management acquires JET, Wilton and Powermatic brands. Ron Lejman
Approximately eighteen months ago Tenex Capital Management announced it was acquiring the JET, Wilton and Powermatic brands, the leading manufacturers and marketers of industrial and wood working machinery and equipment, from a Swiss based public company. In the months leading up and subsequent to the deal Tenex contracted the expertise of a leading Senior Operating Partner to support the diligence team and help implement operational improvement initiatives.
In the three months prior to the deal closing, Senior Operating Partner Ron Lejman focused on diligence related to manufacturing, operations, pricing and IT. Upon signing the deal, Lejman transitioned into an execution focus, leading activities associated with separating the tool division from the former parent company.
“Tenex had acquired a successful international company, but it was incumbent upon the team to ensure a smooth transition of the carve-out from their International public company ownership to the newly launched JPW Industries,” Lejman stated. “It was gratifying to bridge the transition from pre to post-acquisition.”
Lejman also provided project management for the carve out from the former Swiss public parent company to ensure appropriate systems remained in place and overall corporate performance did not suffer during the transition. He was pivotal in recognizing, defining and assisting in implementing key operational improvement
initiatives over the past 18 months to enhance efficiencies, improve internal processes and identify possible opportunities for future acquisitions that would continue to improve overall value.
Additionally, Lejman, in conjunction with the management team, implemented various operational improvement initiatives first defined during the diligence state. Among these were improving overall financial performance, evaluating the leadership team and organizational structure to determine opportunities for improvement, and helping to implement a culture of accountability to ensure ongoing success immediately following the acquisition and for the long term.
Lejman is the Senior Operating Partner for Tenex Capital Management and founder of Ron Lejman Consulting (www.rjl-partners.com), operating out of the Greater Philadelphia area.
