Take Advantage of the Benefits of a Spray Liner

Jan 1st 2016 at 9:55 PM

If your pickup truck gets even a moderate amount of usage, investing in a bed liner can save you money in the long run, improving maintenance costs and preserving the bed from damage and the elements. While there are a number of available options for lining truck beds, including carpets and drop-in liners, a spray liner has many advantages.

Spray-on bed liners use a technique similar to spray painting, to spread a layer of polyurethane over the entire truck bed, usually around a quarter inch thick on the bed and half as thick on the sides. This synthetic materialadheres to the painted surface, fixing the liner firmly in place. Unlike drop-in liners or carpets, a spray liner won't move around no matter what is placed in the truck bed or how rough the ride becomes. Shifting liners expose the bed to the elements as well as any transported objects, risking scratching and denting the paint job.

Spray liners also offer effective protection from the elements. The vinyl-like surface coats every part of the bed, and is completely airtight and waterproof. It won't crack or tear, and doesn't risk trapping moisture underneath, which can lead to corrosion and rust. Because they're so resilient, spray liners are also low maintenance; often a garden hose is all you'll need to clean out the truck bed, and any accumulated dirt won't damage the underlying layer.

In addition to the protection they offer, spray liners can also improve the look of a vehicle. They're available in a number of colors, and can often be tinted as well, either to match the truck's paint job or to offer an interesting contrast. They're nicely textured and create clean, even look over the whole bed.Spray liners can be smoothly textured for easy cleaning, or rough to improve grip and prevent objects from sliding around the truck bed.

Spray liners are also a great choice for custom trucks, older models, or any irregular beds that won't fit standard carpet or drop-in liners. While the latter would need to be cut to fit, a spray liner is easy to apply to any size or shape of truck bed. However,to ensure adhesion, the liner must be evenly applied after the bed's surface is correctly prepared.

If you want to improve your pickup truck and extend the life of its bed, consider investing in a spray liner. Check out this link for more about getting truck bed spray liners in Murrieta.
