Scott Pelley named as Katie Couric replacement
While some of us were secretly hoping CBS executives might pick Charlie Sheen, network bigwigs have announced their pick to be Scott Pelley. He will replace the lovely Katie Couric beginning June 6th, 2011.
According to David Rhodes, CBS President, "Scott has it all. He has the experience, the credibility and he is among the very best reporters ever to work at CBS News."
Pelley has worked with CBS Evening News for two decades now, and this will likely prove to be a position well-deserved. The broadcast will be re-titled "CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley," effective June 6th, 2011. Until then, Mr. Pelley will continue reporting for "60 Minutes."
Of course, even the dainty frame of Katie Couric will prove to leave big shoes to fill. Her face is associated with strong emotions from all points on the political spectrum. Personal battles of all sorts have surely made her show as all the more professional though, over the years. And whether you love Katie Couric, or simply love to hate her, she will be missed. Here's to wishing Scott Pelley success with his new CBS News anchor position.
