No...Facebook Did Not Send Me a Check Today

Mar 3rd 2011 at 1:20 AM

I see this all the time. Why is everything always about money?  What about...back in the day when you had to go and actually go out and buy paper and a stamp...and don't forget the envelopes to send someone a letter.  No one paid me to keep in touch with family and friends then and why would someone pay me to keep in touch with them now.  Facebook is where I keep in touch with family and friends and I don't have to go out and buy materials or stamps to keep in touch. It is a social gathering place and it is a great social network.  You don't have to put one network down to promote another.  There is room for both. I'm just sayin :)

I don't mean FB is my home literally. What I meant was...I want my space on Facebook respected. I don't want solicitors on my Facebook just like I don't want solicitors knocking on my door when I am home :) My friends are my friends on FB and I respect them and they know that I don't mind them letting me know about cool things and opportunities that they come across. I'm always open to new things. It's all about respect and not spamming.

An interesting point on FB. However, I would also never consider FB my home. I would rather say that FB is something I do when at home. An addition to reading books or watching movies. :)

Hello rishiforyou, thank you for reading and commenting my article...and yes I do love FB...and you can analyze all you want. Unless we have things in common or you are a family member you are not my friend on Facebook. My non friends only see what I want them to see on FB if anything at all. That's the same on all of my websites. My Facebook is for hanging out with friends sharing pictures and playing games. Just like when I'm at home watching a movie I don't want to be interrupted by commercials, ads, or telephone solicitors, etc. I have no trouble saying no when hit up by solicitors. I have been in sales most of my life and I agree that sales people are normally harmless folks. Have a great day.

Hi Doddee, As an internet marketer, I can research and analyze your interests, hobbies and lots of other details about you that you share on Facebook. So, would you still consider Facebook your home? I would never consider Facebook or any such site my home where almost anybody can pry inside and discover everything important about me. Beware of posting too many personal details on Facebook. By doing so you may become an easy target for identity thieves. However, sales people are normally harmless folks!

Thanks Lonnie for checking out and commenting my article. To me Facebook is my home and IM Faceplate is my office...I don't want sales people knocking on my door when I'm home.

So very true. Different tools for different tasks! That is why IMFaceplate is such a handy thing to have around too. Thanks for reminding us to emphasize the "social" aspects of a community like facebook. ~LonnieG
