Most Popular Vehicles in Youth
Children as young as twelve years old are riding all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) and partaking in an adventure sport along with their parents and other family members. ATV riding has become extremely popular among today’s youth as it offers a lot of versatility in terms of engaging in sport activities. And to cater to this need, many ATV manufacturers are engineering vehicles specifically designed with small motors, bigger brakes, and more safety features to keep the youth safe on the road.
While buying an ATV for your child, remember to take into consideration his/her age as well the level of skill development. Buying bigger vehicles will be heavier and will not serve the purpose. You would need an ATV that suits their physical weight so that they can control the ATV effectively. Safety gear is also very important to make sure your children are safe while riding. Inculcating safety habits in your kids at a young age will stay with them for life.
That being said, here are some of the ATVs that you can consider buying for your children.
- Electric Quads: If you wish to introduce your child to ATV riding, then it is best to have them begin at an early age. For this purpose, electric quads can prove really useful. Riding an electric quad can teach your kid how to handle the vehicle in a controlled environment where he/she is allowed to practice. This will inculcate a lot of confidence in them which will prove beneficial in the long run.
- 50cc Gas ATVs: Once your child has been made comfortable at piloting an ATV, you can move him/her up to a 50cc gas motor vehicle. Such ATVs are lighter in weight and more compact with little or no suspension at all. These ATV types come installed with a governor that that can control the maximum speed of the vehicle. This is particularly important for a child who has just switched to riding a gas ATV. These small ATVs also come with a safety kill switch attached to a tether. you can walk behind the ATV and if you feel the need, you can pull the tether to stop the engine.
- 70cc ATV: Once your child has been fully made comfortable riding a 50cc gas motor ATV, you can safely upgrade him to a 70cc engine ATV. While children can ride 50cc at six years of age, 70cc should be ridden not before they turn 13 years old. And gradually they can be moved up to 90cc when turn 16 years in age.
Hence, for you as a parent, it is extremely important to train your ward before allowing him/her to ride an ATV. Ensure that they wear their protective gear while riding and spare no expense in making sure of their safety at all times.
