Learning and Teaching Strategy

The module will be primarily delivered through a lecture and tutorial programme giving a total of 40 contact hours (within a notional 200 hours). Students will be required to demonstrate the ability to work independently and in groups, to consider and discuss, in depth, the issues and dilemmas relevant to a range of typical ethical problems managers will encounter in the public, private and non-profit sectors.  Case studies will be a key feature of this module. Furthermore, in interactive sessions students will be required to practise these skills by presenting their findings to their peers for evaluation.  This formative assessment is designed to test the knowledge and skills acquired from the programme of lectures, guided reading and research. Students will be provided with an opportunity to apply this knowledge to a selection of relevant frameworks in the analysis and synthesis leading to a comprehensive understanding of the relevant issues and dilemmas which could be presented in a business or management situation.

There will be an integrated teaching, learning and assessment strategy which is explicit and which demonstrates the appropriateness of the learning and teaching methods used in relation to the intended learning outcomes and skills being developed, linked to the mode of delivery and the student profile. All modes are expected to develop an independent learning culture and to be exposed to a challenging learning experience.

There will be integration between theory and practice by a variety of means according to the type of degree and mode of delivery. Where appropriate, students are expected to capitalise on their current and prior experiences. The Stakeholder Management module should create opportunities for students to reflect on their knowledge, experience and practice, particularly through a process of peer interaction. This should also lead to Stakeholder Management module students being able to modify and develop their own, and others' business practices. Where appropriate, assignments may include application of knowledge and skills within organisations.
