It’s Complicated: How to Know When Things Are Going Wrong In a Relationship
In social media, it’s easy to change your relationship status: you’re either single, in a relationship, or are able to click “it’s complicated” on your computer. But in real life, there are no easy relationship fixes, especially when you don’t have a clue as to where things went wrong. How can you be aware of when your relationship is in danger of falling apart? While no relationship is the same, here are some warning signs to look out for when a relationship goes south.
Repetitive function: In the early stages of your relationship, you made it a point to kiss each other every time you left each other for the day and came home. At first these kisses were passionate and filled with well wishes for the upcoming day and sincere greetings when your loved one returned. Now, while the kisses are still there at the beginning and the end of the day, they are more perfunctory than passionate, and sometimes, there is no greeting attached to them. When the routine becomes routine, it may be time for a change.
Tasking instead of talking: Many people think that communication is any kind of verbal exchange. But talking about what groceries are needed or what repairs need to be done around the house is not communication, it is actually tasking. Remember that communication is about more than what is said, but what is not said as well. If the only things that you can talk about are shared responsibilities, then there is a lot more you need to be talking about, such as where your relationship is headed.
Outside Influences: Has you or your significant other been “staying late at the office?” Making or finding excuses not to come home is one of the prime indications that a relationship may be in trouble. Many people in a relationship who no longer want to be in a relationship may find comfort in other activities, and in worse case scenarios, the arms of another. There’s an old adage that says that if people aren’t finding what they need at home, they will search elsewhere for it.
The above-listed are just some of the signs that your relationship may be heading south. If you find that all of these signs are present, you may want to re-evaluate your relationship. For advice from a divorce attorney in San Diego area, visit here.
