Kalyanji was killed in an accident with six other people while coming back from a court hearing. It was alleged that his wife and son plotted his murder and it was soon found true by the court. Suresh’s brother Vinod has been looking after his business ever since.
Rattan Khatri is also considered the Satta King of Matka gambling. He is a Sindhi who came to Mumbai after the India-Pakistan partition in 1947 from Karachi in Pakistan. He started his journey with humble beginning but soon after he developed a worldwide network of gambling. He started a modified version of Matka gambling in 1964 with new rules which soon became very popular. The Indian movie Dharmatma, which was an adaption of the Hollywood movie Godfather, had a role inspired from him and it was played by the actor Prem Nath. During the emergency declared by Indira Gandhi he was sent to jail for 19 months. He also directed a movie with the help of his allies and close ties in Bollywood.
Although after the implementation of strict rules, Matka lottery was declared illegal, a large mass of people were still involved in it. Even today, the sattamatka is a huge industry in itself.
