How To Prepare Your Property For a Successful Inspection?

A lot of work goes into getting a house ready to sell and the last thing you want is to have your property sales dreams quashed because of a failed inspection. It’s inevitable for a property inspection to take place. Your focus therefore should be on how to prepare your property so that it passes inspection. Taking such a proactive approach will ease the process of closing your deal. If you are the seller of the property, you should disclose to the buyer everything that is faulty with the property so that it can be fixed before the property gets inspected. Trying to hide faults will only make you appear dishonest and will make the buyer shy away from the deal. With that said, the following is what you need to do to prepare your house for inspection.

One, you need to get rid of clutter. Though clutter is a superficial problem, it will prevent the home inspector from viewing what is underneath. Clutter will also arouse suspicion in the inspector as it will appear as though you are trying to hide something. Remove any clutter that could be under the sinks, in the basement, on the floors and anything blocking electric panels. The property inspector will need to turn over or move some appliances such as the stove, or the washing machine. By emptying such appliances, you will ensure the process goes a lot smoother. Four, avoid being around the house when the inspection is going on. The last thing you want as a seller is to make the inspector feel as though you are hovering. If the buyer is in the house during the inspection, this also gives him or her more freedom to express his or her views. If you have any dogs or pets that are likely to get aggressive, make sure they are out of the way. Five, make sure that none of the doors in your house are locked. The inspector will want to see what lies behind every door, so prepare all spaces and keep all doors open. Locked doors are yet another reason for arousing suspicion. Lastly, it helps a lot to have records of maintenance and repairs as they will give the private certifier a good picture of how well the property has been taken care of.
