A "hen party" is known in America to be bachelorette party. It's the celebration of the last night of being a bachelorette and typically consists of only women. The hen party can be comparable to the male version of Stag Party Bournemouth. Different activities take place at a hen party than a stag party, but both parties are usually thrown for generally the same reasons.
Hen parties can consist of women getting together early morning and spending the day shopping, at the spa, exploring a new area, a theme park; it really depends on the preference of the hens. Women are more likely to partake in shopping, spa days and pampering than the males in a stag party. Women are also less likely to go to the strip club or a casino than men.
Night time activities usually run parallel to the stag party's activities that involve alcohol and dancing. As mentioned earlier, though, it depends on the hen's preference. Hen parties are typically known by this name in Australia and New Zealand, where has "hen do" is known in the United Kingdom and Ireland. The United States has coined the term, "Bachelorette party" to correspond with the male "Bachelor party."
It's possible to rent out different venues for hen parties, a lot of the time dance floors, bars and certain restaurants will allow you to rent out a section or the whole venue depending on the size of the party. It is the maid of honor's job to plan this, the bride-to-be should not be involved at all when planning the "hen" or "bachelorette" party. Some hen parties are thrown at home and the bridesmaids and maid of honor arrange for the entertainment to be brought to them, be it strippers, naked men, dancers, etc.
When bringing the night to a close, it's usually a good idea to have a designated driver if everyone has decided to drink and the party took place outside of the home. You should never drive under the influence. The bride-to-be should refrain from drinking too much alcohol to avoid a tired look the next day. Drinking a lot of water throughout the night can help lessen the effects of excessive alcohol consumption. Once everyone is safely at home, the night of "hen do" can come to a close and the wedding procedures can begin to take place in the morning, following a nice, warm shower.
