GMAIL ALERT has your's been compromised?

Aug 12th 2010 at 3:59 PM

Today my Gmail account was lodded into by an outside IP address which is unknown to me,

This sparked an alert from Gmail which asked me if I was aware of the activity on my account

I was not aware so I was prompted to CHANGE MY PASSWORD IMMEDIATLY

This I did and so far do not seem to have been effected by the intrusion

However..This afternoon having returened from my work day

There was another Email which I will copy /paste here now.............

I just found out this morning that someone has hacked into
my Alertpay account and changed all the details, closed out my credit cards,
wiped out my bank accounts, canceled all my business accounts, canceled
all my in bound and out bound subscriptions, and finally withdrew all funds
to their own account!

I do not have any sort of access to my Alertpay account right now.

Alertpay security department is on it, they are aware that someone has done this, and everything
should be straightened out here in a few hours they tell me. After it is re-enstated, I then have
many addresses to change and passwords to redo, adding business accounts, the whole 9 yards.

From what they can tell, the hacker broke into my gmail account somehow, went to Alertapy
entered the email address and asked for a new password! They got the new password and went
to work. All happened in about 20 minutes at 4 am this morning!

So if you are like me, be aware! This could be a new hacking system.
Dont keep too much in Alertpay. I have just learned my lesson..

Thankfully, Alertpay has already determined the withdrawl was fraudulent,
and they are standing behind me to get everything squared away and my
funds returned, so this is good on their side, and makes me feel safer using
them as a processor.

But still once they get what funds back they can recover, this still leaves me
at ground 0, starting everything over again.

There was more to this mail but not needed in this alert.

I have been receiving mail apparently from myself ,yet signature is of another person

Also I have been receiving mail from known contacts

So obviously I have been compromised.

Question is Have You Too??

should you fell like this has happend to you

my suggestion is to change your Gmail password right now

And change it again on a regular basis.

Hope this Is helpful
