Doing Life Without Reward

Aug 26th 2010 at 2:13 PM

Have you ever fell like you were going through life and no one noticed? Have you ever been in a group and felt alone? Have you ever sat and watched while others seemed to enjoy life while you seemed to be just getting through it.

I have found a way to change those feelings. It is called volunteering. It is not easy, it is time consuming, it doesn't pay you any money, it may even cost you some money.

So why do it? Do it for you, if you really want to see what your real value is do some volunteer work. The pay is more than you could ever imagine. The fun you will have will be the best ever, the time will go by so fast you will wonder were it went.

Let me give you some ideas where you can help out in your spare time;

1. Senior Centers: You will meet some of the most extraordinary people in a senior center. They have stories to tell and enjoy the company of others. You are always welcome, no one is a stranger after the first visit. They enjoy playing board games, cards, bingo, and even WI on the TV.

2. Hospitals: Many hospitals are under staffed and welcome help. You can do visitations, work the information desk, Help with changing beds and clean up.

3. Chamber of Commerce: many cities have a chamber of commerce that provides information to visitors and sponsor a visitor center. Some have booths at fairs and expos to advertise the city to prospective business people as well as people planning to relocate.

4. Red Cross: people are always needed for blood drives, disaster relief, emergency actions. They provide training for most things at no charge.

5. Schools: There are many sporting events, social events, after school activities and chaperoning activities that school officials need help with.

So now you have the places  and the rest is up to you. make the biggest change you will ever experience in you life. One look from someone you have gone out of your way to help will tell you how valuable you really are.
