Differences Between Ball Mill & Rod Mill
Rod mills and ball mills have many similarities but actually they are different. They consists of long rods. They both are designed for grinding purpose. Ore is grinded by tumbling process inside the mill.rod charge tangling is a common issue in these mills hence to avoid this length to dia ratio is typically maintained between 1.4 to 1.6.
Rod mills can be feed up to 270mm. rods are run in a parallel format and simulates a series of roll crushers. It helps in minimizing the production of slimes.
Center peripheral discharge, end peripheral discharge and rod mill are all popular types of grinding mills. In processing industries, wet grinding mills are commonly used. Dry grinding is very rarely used because it causes many problems.
Rod mills are operated at slow speed as compare to ball mills. Rod mill uses steel than a ball mill; it enables better contact between the ore and the media.rod charge. Sand mills of HXJQ are very much popular these days.
