Defending Minnesota's Educators
COMMENTARY | When it comes to math, too many Americans consider it a terrible burden for any student to endure while getting a basic education. But the truth of the matter is, math is a wonderful tool to understand, navigate and master the world around us.
Sadly, it seems, in the state of Minnesota, specifically Minneapolis an estimated 31 percent of the student body is expected to fail at the final GRAD math test for graduation (a standardized, homogenized assessment test). As it currently stands, until 2015, students who fail the GRAD math portions of the tests three times are allowed to graduate with a waiver that conditions their graduation upon satisfaction of other requirements.
