Cooking Chicken and Pasta Together

Chicken adds intense flavour and protein to pasta dishes making it healthier as well as tastier. You can add this ingredient to traditional favourites such as macaroni and cheese to make it kid friendly. In addition, it can also be added to Italian-style pasta primavera with wagon wheel noodles to bring a completely different taste. To add versatility to pasta dishes, juicy chicken breasts can be used as the staple ingredient and make a full meal pairing it with salad or vegetable. With pasta you can have many easy healthy chicken recipes that your family would love to have.

Here are some points you should note before adding chicken to pasta:


Tender chicken is preferred in pasta to enhance the taste. When you are using the chicken breast then tenderizing is all about breaking down the fibers of the meat. Thump boneless breasts with a meat mallet or the handle of a table knife to tenderize the chicken. Continue thumping with a series of light taps until the breast reaches 1/2-inch thickness. You can place the ingredient between two pieces of plastic wrap to make the clean-up easier.


Seasoned chicken adds more flavour and more importantly it helps to seal in the juices. You can use small amount of flour in a shallow dish and add salt and freshly ground black pepper in combination with fresh or dry herbs like garlic powder, basil, oregano, parsley, rosemary or sage to give a new flavour to your pasta dishes. However, do not overdo the seasoning to keep the flavour of pasta intact.


Preparing the chicken in advance is advised. For this, you need to heat the butter, olive oil or canola oil (anything you prefer) in a heavy frying pan till hot. Add the chicken and fry till brown light and place the lid on the pan after turning the heat to low. Leave for approx. ten minutes. Moreover, the time may be increased if it is not done. Eating it raw would completely spoil your experience of chicken pasta. You can use a meat thermometer to check if it is finished cooking – it is done if the thermometer registers 170 F.

The final work

If the meat is done then you can remove it from the skillet and cool for a few minutes. Cut the cooked chicken into pieces and use it into your recipe. The cooked chicken can be stored in the refrigerator to use it when required. Ideally, chicken should be added to the pasta at the end to avoid overcooking.
