A Simple Way to Make a Product (Sale) Page

Generally, a newbie finds it difficult to sell products or services on the internet. Often, they are advised to either open an online shop (like, eBay) or use a PPC ad campaign. These require one to have a sales landing page and involves money.

However, there are several ways in which one can display chosen products and sell them on the internet without spending money. Some advocate the use of free traffic exchanges using splash pages without having even a website. Yet, there are those who adopt free email services adding links directly to the source sales pages like Click Bank affiliate links or Amazon’s product links.

One of the best methods is to use a free web page that contains basic on-site optimization tools and then to promote it on social media sites like FB, Twitter etc. Writing a few articles and posting them to several ezine directories can generate good backlinks and anchor text links to the product web page increasing the chances of better visibility in search engines. A regularly updated blog linking to one’s web page is also a good method. All these can be accomplished free of cost though they require time.

Here are a few suggestions on how to make a product (sale) page:
1.    Make a web page like I made on Electrical Transfer Switches to promote an Amazon product.
2.    Include the keyword or phrase in the title.
3.    Include the keywords and long tail keywords based on Google’s AdWords Tool in the description.
4.    Include less competitive keywords and phrases as tags.
5.    Upload a robots and a sitemap file.
6.    Visit Google’s Webmaster Guidelines and follow instructions for authentication. So also for Yahoo / Bing.
7.    Submit your website, web page or blog to search engines.
8.    Gradually start promoting using white hat techniques mentioned earlier.

However, the web page you build must have an original content, a video, picture with image or alt tags, features of the product, cost, comparison, economics, shipping method, guarantees etc. Your willingness to help the customer for any additional details will boost the chances for better outcomes.

One of the ways to understand what is meant by original content is to make a Google search for the keyword and study the top 10 websites. If you can add new information to the knowledge already available by your detailed research, there is a higher chance of your web page moving up in search ranking. Beware that research is not just online research but rather actually exploring the study of the product directly, discussing with the experts, examining the product catalogues or manuals and feedback from users.

Another important factor to be remembered is that often we are asked to update the web page to keep it fresh. One way is to revise the text, add some new points and add additional related pages using intra-links in the website. Thus, it is an ongoing effort and one should never be content once a page has been made! Otherwise, the page becomes stale and will soon be lost in the countless internet pages within no time.
