Fake Verisign Seal?
Hello, my precious friends!
I was made aware of so devastating a fact lately that I couldn’t help myself keeping it to my own. So, I am here to share it with you and warn you about all those scam websites who claim they are secured by Verisign.
What Is Verisign?
Billions of times each day, their SSL, identity and authentication, and domain name services allow companies and consumers to engage in trusted communications and commerce.
For more than 10 years, VeriSign Internet infrastructure has been at the very heart of the Internet, enabling key transactions and protecting valuable data.
Their global registries, data centers, and networks provide the security, scalability, and reliability to support digital interactions today and tomorrow. And VeriSign continues to play a central role in the dramatic expansion and protection of the Internet itself, with well over $500 million invested in Project Titan, a global initiative to exponentially increase the core infrastructure capacity and heighten security systems. By 2010, these enhancements will allow VeriSign to increase daily DNS query capacity tenfold from 400 billion queries a day currently to 4 trillion queries a day. Scaling their proprietary systems will increase bandwidth capacity ten times from more than 20 gigabits per second (Gbps) to greater than 200 Gbps.
What The Scammers Do!
They put a similar Verisign-secured sign on their webpage. This is how they acquire their visitors’ trust.
The sign looks something like this: 
How To Tell Fake From Real?
OK! It is so easy to do so. All you have to do is click on the sign they have put on their website. If you are able to click it, and if it takes you to Verisign website, you are on a legitimate website. But if you can’t click it (if the image is not clickable) you are to leave that page immediately before thinking twice.
If clicking on the page takes you to a similar page like the screenshot below, you are in the right place:

What if clicking takes you to a sight looking just like VeriSign's but isn't? Check for https at the beginning of the url. Probably a good idea to check to see if the website has a valid certificate. They get a couple bad reports a year. I figure that's pretty good for a gambling site... dealing with sore losers everyday. you know what i mean.

When I first got online to market a business I went to Verisign's website to download a white paper (back around 2004) about securing customer trust so that I could do everything the right way. I included my home phone with them and was suprised to receive a phone call from a customer service rep a week later asking if I had any questions about their white paper.
