Successful SSD Data Recovery

Dec 3rd 2019 at 5:22 AM

Because of their RAID-like structure, even with entirely healthy memory chips, data recovery from SSDs is different in comparison with other types of NAND-based media. And different usually means more challenging. Once failed, only a trained engineer can diagnose the solid-state drive and determine what exactly the cause of failure was. The memory chips on this Kingston SSD were healthy. The boot sector and file system, however, were not, and the customer had no access to its data. Our junior data recovery technician could easily handle the case and recovered the needed data in full.

SSD Data Recovery

SSDs have no rotating or moving parts. They store data on tiny flash memory chips. SSDs do not suffer from head crashes, scratches on surfaces, but mostly from controller chip/electronic component failures. If the memory chips are intact and not damaged, data can be retrieved. Another SSD data recovery case was resolved today and data was delivered to its happy customer.

Data Recovery Services from eMMC Memory Chip

Smartphones nowadays have become the new tool for storage. Not only for photos, videos, and music but also for many other files that we usually store on our desktop computers. Smartphones use a different kind of NAND flash memory chip. This eMMC memory chip was desoldered from the motherboard of the Samsung Galaxy smartphone. The phone has stopped functioning, and the customer had brought it to some service center to get it fixed. The service center engineer has realized that data safety could be under risk during phone repair. So he decided to dismount the memory chip and forward the case to us. Data from the memory chip was successfully retrieved

Compact Flash Card Data Recovery

Compact Flashcards are widely used to store photos and videos. It is more than 25 years now that CF cards have proved to be one of the most reliable and preferred storage media for cameras. Some cameras use multiple CF cards that provide higher data transfer speed. Does this mean you don’t need a backup plan anymore? Of course not. They fail too, like the CF card here with TSOP48 form factor chips. The card is defective, but not due to the controller, but because of its memory chips. To put it, communication between a controller and memory chips can grow worse as the last age over time. After removing the memory chips and reading the raw data directly from them, we were able to rescue more than 90% of photos from a birthday party event.
