  • The New DeLorean DMC12s

    The new DeLorean DMC12s?

DeLorean VP has been talking about a new version for a long time now for this 1980's icon sports car.

The VP of the company Delorean recently told media that they were actually gearing up to make new DMC 12s, although the new sports cars will have a lot of modern updates. The last DeLoreans were made in 1982. One question: Will it have the gullwing doors? There have been recently some manufacturing regulations dynamics that have made it harder to produce low-volume autos, like new DMC 12s would of course be, but, according to Hagerty, “the final regulations will allow low-volume automakers to sell up to 325 cars each year that resemble production vehicles manufactured at least 25 years ago.”

We’ve been keeping a low-profile over the past year or so as we work with suppliers (both potential and confirmed) and await the final regulations from both the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), which are now about two years overdue.

DeLorean and other car enthusiasts cheered loudly when the “Fixing America’s Surface Transportation (FAST) Act” was signed into law in December 2015. It included a Christmas present for car buffs hoping to drive a brand-new classic. The law allows low-volume manufacturers to produce up to 325 replicas a year for sale in the U.S. of vehicles that appear to be at least 25 years old.Despite the law’s name, implementation has not been fast, since the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) wants to first issue a regulation. Lawmakers gave NHTSA until December 2016 to accomplish that mission but it is still on bureaucratic hold. Turns out, NHTSA’s Christmas present was a lump of coal rather than a new car. The law is very detailed, so a regulation isn’t necessary. NHTSA just needs to create a form allowing companies to register online and file annual reports. Seems simple enough. Why was the law necessary? When NHTSA was established in the 1960s, it created just one system applicable to companies producing millions of cars. While many other countries have set up separate rules for low-volume production, NHTSA chose not to pursue a program. Congress finally stepped in and established the low-volume program.

The program applies to replica cars – new vehicles that resemble cars from another era

from hot rods and roadsters to classics from the 1950s through early ‘90s. Each company can produce and sell up to 325 completed replicas in the U.S. and a total of 5,000 vehicles (of any era) worldwide. The vehicles will be current model year clean cars. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and California Air Resources Board (CARB) are putting the final touches on guidelines for the engine packages. NHTSA can issue a regulation but it isn’t necessary. Replicas have been marketed for decades as “kit cars,” whereby a manufacturer sells car parts, frequently assembled, and the buyer installs the engine/transmission. The only distinction is that the manufacturer can now install the powertrain and sell a turn-key car. This is huge for hobbyists who want the option of buying a completed car.

    Production of DeLorean Cars

For nearly five decades, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has not distinguished between a company producing millions of cars and a small business making a few custom cars. NHTSA’s one-size-fits-all approach meant that these small companies were subject to the same regulations and paperwork burdens as the large automakers that mass-produce vehicles.

In December 2015, the language from the “Low Volume Motor Vehicle Manufacturers Act” (H.R. 2675) – which creates a reasonable regulatory structure allowing small companies to produce a limited number of completed replica motor vehicles that resemble the appearance of cars produced 25 years ago or more. – was inserted to the federal highway bill (H.R. 22) and signed into law. The new law provides common-sense regulatory relief for small businesses that would otherwise be treated as if they were producing millions of cars. The companies are required to register with NHTSA and EPA, and file annual production reports. The replica vehicles will be subject to equipment standards, recalls and remedies.

The vehicles must meet current Clean Air Act standards for the model year in which they are produced. The new law allows the low volume vehicle manufacturer to meet the standards by installing an engine and emissions equipment produced by another automaker (GM, Ford, etc.) for a similar EPA-certified vehicle configuration or a crate engine that has been granted a California Air Resources Board (CARB) Executive Order (EO). This reasonable regulatory reform will also spur innovation, including advances in alternative-fuel and green vehicle technologies. In anticipation of this legislation, DeLorean Motor Company has been working for some time to identify a supplier for engines and other parts that must be reproduced to facilitate this production for 2017. A number of hurdles exist before production can begin, and we’re still early on in this process of determining the feasibility of moving forward. Further updates will be posted here.

Fastest Used Tuner Cars Under $10k To Purchase Today

Fast used tuner cars projects are at the heart of every automotive enthusiast's basic desires. Whether it is the straight line speed afforded by massive American V-8s, or a road course special that can tear through corners. Having a fast project car is a point of pride, but more importantly, a point of excitement and enjoyment. With that being said, tuner cars tend to come with much heftier price tags than their less exciting, slower base model counterparts. So if you are interested in finding the fastest cars for under five figures, read on. These cars range from modern contemporaries, to aspiring classics, but they all have things in common, they are fast and can be had for less than $10k.

TUNER CARS UNDER 10K TO PURCHASE

Factors To Consider When Looking For Your Project

There are a lot of factors to consider when looking for your first project, and your goals will determine what kind of condition car you'll be looking for, but we are talking high horse power, luxury beasts that are now trading for a fraction of their original worth. All this is bad news for anyone who paid sticker, but great news for those who want to cash in and experience a rich man's car on a modest man's budget. If you want to drift, or go racing, then an interior and flawless bodywork can be sacrificed for a lower purchase price. If you want a street car, it often pays in the long run to spend the extra money up front for things like a clean cockpit and paint that hasn't been trashed. Going legit on a project car to make your own takes a serious amount of time, money, and effort. It's also tons of fun and can often introduce you to the best kinds of people. While you're figuring out what you want to get, go to as many local meets, shows, and/or track events as you can. Talk to the guys and girls who have the cars you like, ask them about their cars, and maybe see if they can give you a ride once you get to know 'em. Make friends. These are the people you'll call when you're stuck on the side of the freeway, and for many of us, the people that have become life long friends.

Best Tuner Cars Under $10,000 To Purchase Today

    Scion tc
    Best Years: '05 to '10
    Price Range: $4,000-$6,000

From the Factory: The first-generation Scion tC was exclusive to the North American market and heavily marketed and aimed at younger buyers. This meant a ton of money was spent creating a wide range of modifications from both Toyota Racing Development (TRD) and the aftermarket at large. First-gen. Scion tC's came with the 2AZ-FE, a 2.4L inline-four that made 160 hp, which was easily bumped to 200 hp with TRD's supercharger. Compared to smaller displacement imports, the tC has more mid-range torque and responds well to turbocharging and supercharging. The five-speed manual is the obvious pick - don't settle for an automatic.

Likely Condition Today: Be wary of cars with unusually low prices. Since these were marketed as "tuner cars," there is a bit of a double-edged sword: lots of aftermarket parts availability and a wide base of people who drove them accordingly. Salvage titles are not uncommon and any potential purchase should be carefully looked over. There are enough of these out there that evidence of a repair should be enough to make you walk away. Oh, and if the trim panel above the license plate is falling off, use it to knock the price down a bit; but don't be scared, it's an easy fix that's still readily available. Also remember, the lift-gate release is a button, not a lever, so be gentle.

Where To Start: Scion made sure the tC was both safe, and not too edgy, so good places to start are handling and exhaust-related mods. TRD's catalog included cold-air intakes, a mild exhaust, lowering springs, and even a supercharger. Factory mods won't net you as much power, or as dramatic an exhaust note, as their aftermarket counterparts. If you're looking for bigger gains, nearly all of the major players have modifications from Garrett to Greddy, and these engines have been built up into 750hp-plus monsters.

    Acura RSX Type-S
    Best Years: '02 to '06
    Price Range: $4,000-$8,000

From the Factory: Once you get past the fact that it's not a Type R, the RSX Type-S really is a great platform for modification. You get 200hp and an excellent close-ratio six-speed manual under the hood, and it even has a vaguely usable rear seat. It's also an Acura, so you can find models with leather. The K20A2 ('02-'04), or the K20Z1 ('04-'06) have lots of potential for every level of budget, and are entertaining enough in stock form to get you hooked on dat VTEC.

Likely Condition Today: Many have been modified already and could provide a decent starting point. But proceed with caution and check things like wiring so you know what you'll have to sort out, or if you should pass. There were also a few problems to look out for on early models: tail light gaskets could fail and allow water and exhaust fumes into the hatch, and the transmission was prone to pop out of gear. Many examples with higher mileage will have had these fixes performed already, since the gaskets are easy and the transmission was addressed in a technical service bulletin from Acura.

Where To Start: Start with the usual intake/header/exhaust and look at Honda for their user-friendly ECU upgrades. You can pick up coil covers from your favorite brand, since all the serious players made them for the RSX, and find an exhaust that splits your preferred balance of tone and volume. When you're ready for more power, forced induction is the easiest way. Greddy and HKS carry popular turbo options while CT Engineering offers a reliable supercharger variant. In the DC5's heyday everyone made parts for it, so finding N.O.S. (new old stock) or lightly used parts should be a breeze.

    Lexus GS
    Best Years: '97-'04
    Price Range: $4,000-$7,000

From the Factory: The second-generation GS came in two flavors: 2JZ-GE inline-six (GS 300) and 1UZ-FE V-8 (GS 400). Before you get too excited, the 2JZ didn't come with a turbo and made 225 hp, but is the best candidate of the two options if you want to make lots more power down the road. If you don't want 400hp-plus, then the 1UZ V-8 is a great choice, since it came with 300hp and would have included many available options as standard equipment. The GS is a Lexus through and through, despite the sporty marketing, so it will have excellent leather and wood veneer trims pieces throughout.

Likely Condition Today: There are three types of GS you'll find, and the one you go for depends on your goals: single owner cars, which will be the little old lady cars and are great for starting from a clean slate; pre-owned cars that will be falling apart and ill kept, which should be avoided; and cars with air suspension already *heavy breathing* which could be a good starting point if the install was done well.

Where To Start: Say you get a stock GS and are looking for the "get low" part: lowering springs and a fresh set of shocks should be considered if you don't want to opt for coil-overs. Do not cut the springs no matter what your friend tells you: it'll ride like hell, and you'll be dodging peanuts while bouncing off the bump stops. After you get your stance right, you'll want to start looking for the right wheels and some lower profile tires. Move inside the car and look up the Japanese VIP style for inspiration here. If you want to make some real power, go for the GS 300 and look into an inexpensive 2JZ-GE turbo kit. A JDM 2JZ-GTE engine swap would be the dream, but let's not get too out of our heads on our first project car...

    Subaru Forester XT
    Best Year: '04
    Price Range: $7,000-$9,000

From the Factory: The Forester XT is a capable small family compact SUV that would typically have nothing to do with this list except for one little detail: Subaru fitted the '04 XT with the EJ255, the same base engine as the WRX STI, albeit with small differences. The stock XT made about 176 hp. Otherwise, the all-wheel drive Forester is a dependable family-friendly ride with lots of cargo room, and space for four adults to ride comfortably on a trip. Likely Condition Today: Though 13 years old, these have kept their value well. This makes it more of a budget stretch, but also means they haven't been beat on by numerous previous owners. You'll have trouble finding many of these in places like Los Angeles, since they lack the snow that makes AWD vehicles so popular. Look in cold weather states, enjoy a road trip to get one, but avoid regions that use salt on their roads since it causes serious rust problems.

Where To Start: This is easy, since you should immediately take the EJ225 and get it as close to STI power levels as possible. Parts necessary: STI intercooler, VF39 turbo, non-catted up-pipe, exhaust, hood scoop and fuel pump. Also for the '04 Forester, you can directly swap the STI ECU, while later years require a reflash. If you want a little different sound, an aftermarket exhaust system could be substituted, too. Power jumps to about 260hp at the wheels while using all OEM parts, and that's a win in our book.

Amazing Tuner Cars of 2020 Best Tuner cars

    Honda Civic Si
    Best Year: '03
    Price Range: $5,000-$7,000

From the Factory: The '03 Honda Civic Si (EP3) was, and still is, a bit of a controversial model. Enthusiasts didn't love it for some of the things Honda changed, and the RSX Type-S had come on the scene at the same time, armed with a more tuner-friendly engine, and in turn the EP3 was generally ignored. It packs a K20A3, also found in the base model RSX, and produces 160hp paired with an interesting five-speed manual with its shifter mounted on the dash instead of the floor. Likely Condition Today: Since enthusiasts generally snubbed the EP3, they were often picked up by fans who ended up being passionate about them. Since they're Honda Civics, there aren't many mechanical pitfalls to look out for on these.

Where To Start: As with the RSX, basic intake/header/exhaust should be pursued based on your personal preferences. Those looking to add serious power can start shopping for a turbo or a blower. If a swap is what you're after, Honda's K24 (found in the TSX, Element, CR-V, Accord) is an ideal upgrade with a substantial increase in torque and the potential for more power with bolt-ons or forced induction. Once you have power where you want, there are OEM Type R parts from Japan, along with Mugen, J's Racing and a slew of other aftermarket parts available to suit your taste as well as suspension options.

    Best Tuner Cars of 2020

    Subaru WRX
    Best Years: '03 to '06
    Price Range: $6,000-$10,000

From the Factory: The stock WRX puts out 227hp, and though it had an automatic option, enthusiasts serious about modifying should hold out for a five-speed manual. The WRX has been popular since its introduction and despite a higher entry price, remains a solid choice for tuners since so much has already been done. Likely Condition Today: Finding one that hasn't been owned by at least a few wannabe racers is going to be hard. Though they will often have been abused hard, they're built well. Early models had a notoriously weak transmission, so any sign of anything out of the ordinary with the gearbox is a reason to walk away and keep looking. Check for poorly repaired damage, too, since AWD can't rescue drivers from every situation they may get themselves into.

Where To Start: Depending on what's been done (service records), address anything that needs it first. Timing belt, especially if the previous owner didn't have a record of it being done, fluid changes, the usual. Once you've had a little fun driving it around you can start thinking about mods. The beauty of a factory turbocharged vehicle is how easy it is to make power. Adding the usual intake, exhaust and especially a down-pipe, along with a tune will bump you into the 300hp-plus range. The stock bottom end is said to be good for 375hp with the cast pistons being the limiting factor. Everything from body kits to big power has been down with these, so sky is the limit.

    Nissan 350Z
    Best Years: '02 to '09
    Price Range: $5,000-$7,000

Universally beloved by the automotive community, the 350Z has now been around for over a decade. In that time, it has accumulated a reputation as a fantastic platform to build on, whether that be a weekend track weapon, or a fun drift car. The Nissan 350Z (known as Nissan Fair lady Z (Z33) in Japan) is a two-door, two-seater sports car that was manufactured by Nissan Motor Corporation from 2002 to 2009 and marks the fifth generation of Nissan's Z-car line. The 350Z entered production in 2002 and was sold and marketed as a 2003 model from August 2002. The first year there was only a coupe, as the roadster did not debut until the following year. Initially, the coupe came in Base, Enthusiast, Performance, Touring and Track versions, while the Roadster was limited to Enthusiast and Touring trim levels. The Track trim came with lightweight wheels and Brembo brakes, but its suspension tuning was the same as all other coupes. The Nissan 350Z has been succeeded by the 370Z since the 2009 model year.

The 350Z has undergone many changes with its younger counterpart the 370Z, but despite being over a decade old, it still is a solid performer right out of the box. It's naturally aspirated V-6 produces just under 300 horse power and the same goes for the car's torque figure. These cars have undergone a serious decline in value, making this the ultimate project car for anyone looking to get into a Japanese sports car icon. AutoTrader has many of these going for between $5,000 and $7,000.

    Mustang GT
    Best Years: '08 to '08
    Price Range: $5,000-$8,000

The newest generation of Mustangs are beloved for their more refined handling and power, but their older siblings are still capable of bringing their share of enjoyment to those with a need for speed. The 2006 Mustang GT is one of those eager to please cars, that is now at a price where it can be accessible by most anyone in the market. The car's 4.6 liter V-8 makes 300 horse power and 320 pound feet of torque, modest but still stout numbers. Best of all, the Mustang may in fact have the largest selection of after market parts in the automotive world, so there are endless possibilities with what can be done to this car. The fifth generation began with the 2005 model year, and received a facelift for the 2010 model year.

2004 saw the rebirth of the Ford Mustang as an American icon with a complete redesign, which was termed by Ford as "retro-futurism". Basically, it meant that Ford ceased to rethink the Mustang concept and returned to its original design but kept all the modern technologies. The car was built on the D2C platform, a brand new design at the time. Starting with 2006 a Pony Package the car has an aggressive new exterior design, but also a unique and comfortable interior. The 2009 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500. The car has an aggressive new exterior design, but also a unique and comfortable interior. The 2009 Mustang Shelby GT500 comes equipped with a 5.4L supercharged V8 engine, that develops up to 540 horsepower at 6200 rpm and a maximum torque of 510 lb-ft at 4500 rpm.

A Glimpse at How Coronavirus is Impacting the Auto Industry

COVID-19, most commonly referred to as the novel coronavirus, has disrupted our way of life across the globe. While the effects of social distancing and self-isolation ripple through our communities and businesses, the automotive industry is inevitably feeling the sting as well. From manufacturers and dealerships to mechanics, salespeople and more, here are some of the ways the industry is handling COVID-19.

    Manufacturers

Several auto manufacturers are planning to halt production or have done so already, including Volkswagen, Fiat Chrysler, and Ford. The New York Times reports that these closures are primarily happening at European factories, such as Ford and Volkswagen’s respective plants in Spain. The European auto sector, according to CNN, employs (directly or indirectly) up to 14 million workers – as other manufacturers begin to follow suit, like Renault already has, the majority of these jobs will be effectively put on hold. While some of these halts were intended as proactive measures to stop the spread of the virus, Ford’s Valencia plant already had confirmed “three positive cases … in a 24-hour period” before the shutdown was issued. Two of those cases, thankfully, involved workers who had self-isolated and “had not entered the assembly operations.”

Social distancing isn’t the only reason some manufacturers are pausing – at the Wolfsburg, Germany Volkswagen factory, a lack of parts means many SUVs cannot be completed in time, ultimately leading to a temporary suspension of production. Volkswagen’s plant in Lisbon also had a shortage of workers that led to closed doors for the time being. Mandatory nationwide shutdowns in Slovakia and other countries have forced some manufacturers to cease activity. In Italy, the country with the second highest number of confirmed cases (per the Washington Post and CDC), some factories are being allowed to continue operations with heightened sanitation and quarantine measures in place.

    Dealerships and Salespeople

Several states in the US have ordered all non-essential businesses to close for at least two weeks, but there is debate as to whether car dealerships fall into that category. The Pennsylvania Automotive Association (PAA) claims “ultimately, this is a business decision for each dealership” and has provided a website with health and safety information for the dealerships that choose to operate despite Pennsylvania governor Tom Wolf’s statewide closure orders.

Many dealerships have pivoted to an alternative structure for selling cars, offering test-drives, and performing maintenance – “concierge” services. Bringing vehicles and paperwork to your home or servicing your vehicle in your own driveway are some of the options that dealerships are now offering in an attempt to retain and acquire customers amidst the pandemic, while also keeping their sales team and mechanics working. This method of providing services is not new, and some dealerships have been offering it for several years, but the need to self-isolate has encouraged even smaller dealerships to try it out. Naturally, the safety of test drives during this time has been a topic of discussion, especially with the CDC’s recommendation of keeping a distance of at least six feet between people, but not all dealerships participating in a concierge program are offering them.

    Mechanics

The world may feel like it’s at a standstill, but yes – your car can still break down, and someone will be there to fix it. The services of mechanics are considered to be even more essential than that of dealerships or car salespeople, and thus many mechanics are facing limited options when it comes to time off of work for social distancing or self-isolation. Small auto repair shops are being hit the hardest, with many businesses struggling to accommodate for employee absences -- especially when many employees are underinsured or uninsured. Larger chains, such as Firestone, have released statements on how they plan to address customer safety and employee absences at their nationwide locations, yet not all clarify whether employees that are sent home to self-quarantine are paid during their time off the job. The lack of a solution for employees forced to miss work without pay only risks the exacerbation of COVID-19’s issues; employees coming into work sick because they need the money means exposing coworkers and customers to the virus, inevitably increasing its spread through local communities and cities.

    Gas Stations and Gas Prices

Gas stations have been deemed essential businesses in the majority of states and countries that have issued lockdowns; other essential personnel rely on gas to get them to where they need to be. However, many gas station owners and attendants are feeling the same pinch that mechanics are, with limited or no protections for employees who need to take off work to self-isolate or quarantine. But another issue is reinforcing the problem: gas prices. Between the lessening of demand as weekly commuters work from home, and the stock market’s turbulence tanking the price of crude oil, NPR reports that in some locations across the US, gas has been reported as low as $1.80 to $2 per gallon. Though COVID-19 has impacted the general demand for gas, people are still venturing out of self-isolation to fill up their vehicles -- meaning that in most cities, station attendants can’t catch a break during this time.

With there being a lack of understanding about when business can return to normal across the nation and the globe, the best thing to do if you must patron an auto repair shop or dealership is to engage in safe and sanitary practices to the best of your ability – and to say an extra “thanks” to the factory worker, car salesman, mechanic, or gas station attendant in your life.

Top Five Mistakes Car Buyers Make When looking for A Used Car

There's no doubt about it - used car search engines take a lot of the hassle out of buying a pre-owned vehicle. However, if you are not careful, you could find yourself with a very expensive mistake. Read on to find out the top five mistakes that buyers make when searching for a used car online.

    1. Not shopping around.

Whether you are searching for a private sale or you prefer to deal with an online used car dealer, don't jump at the first car that looks good to you. Check several sites and compare prices, models, and financing before you make your purchasing decision.

    2. Not running a vehicle history.

No matter what a dealer or private seller tells you, you should always run a vehicle history report before you agree to buy any vehicle. Even if the title is clean, you have no way of knowing whether the car has been in a wreck or flood or received any other major damage until you get a thorough history.

    3. Letting emotions take over.

You may have just found the car of your dreams, but if you can't afford it, or if there are major mechanical problems, or if the car has no maintenance records or evidence of past repairs, buying it could be a huge mistake. Make sure that your decision is soundly based in logic; don't talk yourself into buying a car just because you love it.

    4. Not taking a test drive.

It is never a good idea to buy a vehicle based on the owner's or dealer's claims that it runs fine. Always test drive a car before you buy it - make sure that the engine runs properly, the brakes work, and the heating and air conditioning are functioning, to start with. Your best bet is to take a professional mechanic who knows the model you are considering buying; he or she will be able to determine whether the vehicle is in acceptable condition.

    5. Not negotiating.

Every used car seller is hoping to come out on top of the deal. However, if there are problems with a vehicle - the car needs new brakes, the owner's manual is missing, the tires are bald, and so on - you should use these points to bargain for a better price, especially if you will have to spend money right away on repairs.

Used car search engines can help you find a wide variety of vehicles for sale in your area. Take advantage of online used car websites to find exactly what you are looking for, but never buy a vehicle without keeping these tips in mind.

  • Looking to buy a used car on a semi-tight budget?, 4 tips to save you some time

Are you looking to buy a used car on a semi-tight budget?

If so, you may be looking for information on how you can easily compare car prices online. Did you know that car search tools can provide you with some much needed assistance? They can!

First and foremost, what are car search tools? These programs come in a number of different formats. For starters, some are web based applications, meaning online websites you visit. Then, you will find desktop search tools. Either way, the goal of these applications or websites is to enable you to search for cars across the internet. The beauty of CARSHOPPER.COM is that all the local inventory to dealerships is on CARSHOPPER's platform.

Generally speaking, desktop car search tools are recommended as they come with better features. One of those features is the ability to remove vehicles from your search results list. So, let's say you search for a used Ford Focus. After reviewing your results, you find a poor quality car that is selling for $8,000 even though the estimated resell value is $6,000. Right away, you can remove that vehicle from your list (you no longer need to see it anymore).

The ability to remove items from your vehicle list is the way that these search tools enable you to easily compare car price online. Here is more detailed information on this timesaving and moneysaving process:

Step #1: Do a search with the make, model, year, and so forth.

Do a search with the make, model, year, and so forth. Most programs enable you to select a zip code, search radius, price range, and so forth.

Be sure to enter in a price range, as you will only see cars within your allotted buying budget.

Step #2: Sort your vehicle list by price.

Sort your vehicle list by price. After doing a search, you will see a list of cars, trucks, vans, and so forth that meet your search criteria. Get this list sorted by price so the cheapest ones appear first.

Step #3: Start examining full for sale listings

Start examining full for sale listings. This enables you to determine if the vehicle is worth seeing or taking for a test drive. If it is, contact the seller by email or phone. If it is not worth the time, delete the listing from your vehicle list.

Step #4: Keep repeating step number 3

Keep repeating step number 3. Do this until your list of 100 Ford Focuses is down to, let's say, 10 quality vehicles with an affordable price tag. It is easier to compare the overall cost and quality of 10 vehicles than 100.

So there you have it! You now know how car search engines can easily enable you to compare prices, as well as quality online quickly and easily. When buying, it is important to remember that your overall goal is to find a quality vehicle with an affordable price tag. Sometimes, opting for the lowest price possible isn't always the best buy.

  • 3 Important Tips to Consider When Purchasing a New or Used Vehicle

3 Important Tips to Consider When Purchasing a New or Used Vehicle

Conducting a new car search can be complicated. This is because the number of vehicles included on the new car price list of almost every auto maker continues to decrease. In addition to this, there are also a lot of different ways on how to do a search and most of these are also complicated. Due to this, most car finders are having a hard time in searching for brand new vehicles that they could purchase.

In order to help new car finders in doing their own search, this article provides some important tips that should be considered and this includes the following.

    1. Check the leading car manufacturer websites

One of the best, if not the easiest, way to search for new vehicle models is to check some of the auto manufacturer websites. Checking the auto maker's website is an easy strategy since this allows a car finder to gain information about the latest automobiles that are released on the market with just a few clicks of the mouse.

In addition to this, checking the vehicle manufacturer websites is a good source of information about the newest cars since auto makers usually promote their latest vehicles on their sites. They also publish the specs, the pricing, and even the available auto financing deals offered for these cars.

On top of that, the vehicle manufacturer websites are also considered as the most credible place to search, since the car makers provide the most accurate details about their cars to encourage buyers to purchase each of these. Each of these sites also provide a detailed list of accredited dealerships that sell their current newly-released vehicles and this is very helpful for individuals who are in search for new vehicle models.

    2. Seek the help of popular car finder websites

Aside from the auto manufacturer websites, buyers could also seek the help of websites that offer car search assistance. These websites usually provide information about the latest vehicles on the market for potential customers.

Although, not all of these websites provide the most accurate information about the newest cars that are offered for sale, these could serve as a guide in locating some of the dealerships that are into selling the latest car models. Car finder websites are usually connected to a lot of dealerships and this is an advantage for potential car buyers.

    3. Contact or visit some of the local car dealerships

The local car dealerships are also considered as one of the good sources of information about the new car models that are offered on sale for the market. These dealerships are involved in vehicle sales for a long time and they are among the few actors in the automotive market that could help new vehicle buyers.

Local car dealerships could offer the best information about the new vehicle models since they know which of the vehicles that they sell are considered brand new and those that are previously owned or used cars.

However, car buyers should also practice utmost caution when dealing with local car dealerships since some of these sellers might provide false information to customers just to earn larger profits from them. They could mislead customers and encourage them to purchase reconditioned vehicles sold at inflated prices.

  • What Is Cheaper? Financing A New or Used Car?

    Financing Options for Car Shoppers

Many people want to know if it’s better to finance their purchase at the dealership where they’re buying the car or through their particular favorite bank or credit union. It really depends on where you’re going to get the best rates and terms. Everyone just assumes a credit union will be better, but it’s not always true. At the right dealership, they will send your application out to a whole network of potential lenders. When multiple lenders are competing for your business, you end up the winner with the best possible rate and terms. Shopping around for the best car loan isn’t something most people have the time or desire to do, which is why a dealership with a strong network of lenders is a good way to go. And the best used car dealerships will have lenders in their network who can work with all kinds of credit, from fantastic to seriously challenged to open bankruptcies. This also happens to be a place where CARSHOPPER excels. This deserves a major chunk of your time when shopping for a used car is how to go about financing your purchase, which is something most people will need to do. It’s also a part of the process many people don’t understand very well.

What Is Cheaper? Financing A New or Used Car?

You'll likely find a lower interest rate when you finance a new car, but a used car might be cheaper to finance in the long-run due to its lower sales price. In most states, you'll have to pay sales tax whichever way you go. Buying a used car isn’t as simple as buying a new vehicle, as you’ll have the extra steps of getting a vehicle history report and arranging to have a pre-purchase inspection from an independent mechanic. A third car-buying option is a factory certified pre-owned (CPO) car. A CPO car is typically a gently used car with low miles, no history of major accidents, a thorough dealer inspection, and a warranty provided by the original manufacturer. You will only find factory CPO cars at franchised new car dealers of the same brand.

Your Are Approved For Auto Financing

Getting Approved by an Independent Auto Lender

It is crucial to get a pre-approved car loan before you go any further in the car-buying process. While the majority of car buyers get their financing arranged by the dealership they buy the car from, it can be an expensive mistake to do so without knowing all of your options. Dealers can make significant profit from marking up auto financing, and unscrupulous dealers may direct you to the financing deal that is best for them, not for you. Credit lenders to decide whether to approve your car loan and set the terms of the financing. Your credit score will help determine the interest rate you get, the length of the financing they offer, and whether a down payment is required. By looking at financing early in the auto buying process, you'll have time to correct errors in your credit report and work to improve your score. By having a financing deal in place from a large national bank, local community bank, or credit union, the dealership will have the benchmark they need to beat to get your business. Salespeople love to mix the price of the car, the value of your trade-in, and the financing into one big deal focused on the monthly payment. It's like a shell game, where they move things from box to box to make it appear you're getting a great deal on one component while jacking up the price of the others. Taking the financing piece out of the game allows you to focus on the cost of the car. it is critical to make your car payments on time each month. An easy way to do so is to set up automatic bill pay. Failing to make your payments on time can put your loan into default and risk repossession of your vehicle. Not only do you lose your car, but the damage to your credit score will make your next purchase more expensive, if not impossible. At the end of the loan, you’ll need to get your title from the lender and have them removed as a lienholder. Some lenders will help you take care of that, while others will require you to make a trip to the DMV to take care of the title transfer paperwork.

  • Ten Steps to Buying a New or Used Car

What You Need To know before Begin You Car Shopping

Before you start car shopping, you have to make the most basic decision of all – whether to buy a brand-new car or a used car, and then make sure you know how to be smart when you go shopping. Buying a car can be an expensive proposition. Owning a car can be one too. There are many expenses car owners have to deal with, including the cost of auto insurance, fuel, maintenance, repairs, and parking.

Ten Steps to Buying a New or Used Car

    1. Think About what you want and need. Not what you want!

    2. Decide if you want to purchase or lease

    3. Choosing new or used

    4. Creating a workable monthly budget

    5. Avoiding scams and common buying mistakes

    6. Deal with reputable dealership

    7. Negotiate The Price

    8. Take it for a test drive

    9. Get independent auto lender quotes

    10. Make your car payments on time each month

Think About What You Want and Need. Not what you want!

Buying a car without an idea of what features you want and need is like going to the shopping mall with a blindfold on. Beyond the basics, such as how many people you need to carry and whether you need to tow, you want to consider the importance of infotainment technology and advanced safety features. Are you the kind of buyer who is going to buy your next new car before the warranty ends, or do you plan on keeping it for a long time? If you’re the latter type of buyer, strong predicted reliability should be high on your wish list.

It's important to think about where, when, and how you drive. If you spend a lot of time on the highway, excellent fuel efficiency may be at the top of your wish list. Drivers who encounter a lot of winter weather should consider an all-wheel-drive vehicle, while those in the Sunbelt might think about a convertible. For those seeking fun behind the wheel, getting a car with great performance or handling will put a smile on their face.

Which Is Better! To Buy or Lease?

Leasing is a popular way to get into a new car with lower monthly payments than you'll find with a purchase. About three out of every ten vehicles leaving dealer lots today are leased, rather than purchased. When you lease a car, you're only responsible for the amount of depreciation that is expected to occur during the time of the lease. When you buy a new car, you’re responsible for the whole price of the vehicle. Both approaches have their pluses and minuses. Our article on buying versus leasing can guide you through the decision. Many of the car-buying tips you’ll see in this article apply to both leased and purchased vehicles. For more in-depth information about leasing, hop over to our article on how leasing a car works.

Is Buy A Used Car Is Smarter Then Buying A new Car?

New car prices are higher than ever, now averaging a whopping $37,000. That’s enough to scare quite a few people outright into buying a used car. The vast majority of new car purchases are financed, which is another reason why people who understand the effects of depreciation or more likely to opt for buying a used car. Because a new car immediately drops at least 10% of its value when you drive it off the lot, most people are immediately “upside down” or “underwater” on their car loan, meaning they owe more on the loan than the car is worth. And this doesn’t change for a number of years. Total depreciation during the first year of ownership is often at least 20%, and the car continues to lose that much value every year for several more years. When you buy a great used car, you get more bang for your buck because it was the previous owner who took the big hit on depreciation.

Work with a Reputable Dealership: Some people shy away from buying a used car because they fear being taken advantage of on the price of the car, its condition, or both. But that’s the point of becoming an educated car shopper – learning what you need to know about finding great used cars. One of the smartest decisions you can make is finding a used car dealership who takes the right approach – one that focuses on newer used cars with lower mileage and in great condition, that offers a warranty on every car, that has a money-back guarantee, and that has firm up-front competitive prices so you don’t have to worry about haggling. We’re out to fix the used car shopping experience for consumers, and we’re crushing it, as you can read in our customer reviews.

Create a Budget and Get Pre-approved Financing From Independant Lenders

One of the most important things you can do before beginning to shop for your next is to really take a good look at your financial situation and decide what you can realistically afford. Few things are worse than buying a fantastic car and soon afterwards realizing you can’t afford it. To get this right, you need to account not only for the monthly car payment if you finance your purchase, but also insurance, service/repairs, and fuel. Learn the details in Creating Your Used Car Shopping Budget. Many car buyers decide on the vehicle they want and then try to wedge it into their monthly budget. Smart consumers look at their monthly budget and get a preapproved financing offer before they get anywhere near a car lot. When planning a car-buying budget, you need to look at all of your monthly expenses, including utilities, credit card payments, student loan debt, child support, insurance, and, of course, rent or mortgage payments. Consider the extra costs of owning the car as well, such as auto insurance, fuel, and the rental of a parking space if you don’t have a garage or your apartment doesn’t include a space.

Bad Credit, No Credit Auto Loans

What Common Mistakes To Avoid When Buying A Car

Whether it’s your first time or your fifth time buying a used car, a lot of people make one or more common mistakes that could easily be avoided. One of the biggest mistakes already mentioned is not knowing what you can really afford. Another is not having any idea what kind of car you want and/or need. Other people haven’t done any homework ahead of time to know if the price on any given car they’re looking at is a good one – you have to spend some time looking at your local market to see what similar cars are actually selling for in order to know this. Other common mistakes are not test-driving a car to see if it’s really the right choice, failing to check a vehicle history report (a reputable dealership will provide a copy for free), and not having a trusted mechanic do a thorough inspection of a car before buying it. Finally, a surprising number of people know very little about the financing process to know whether or not the financing contract they sign off on is a good one or not. A car purchase is a big deal, and is often second only to buying a house for many people, so you want to get it right.

    Avoiding buying branded titles!

A branded title is one where there are known problems with a vehicle, such as a salvage title because of an accident, flood damage, and so on. These cars may seem fine when you’re looking at them, but will inevitably start having serious problems that will cost you more in the long run. There are lots of different kinds of salvage titles, and each state has its own wording for them, so read the title carefully to see what it mentions, such as salvage, junk, rebuilt, reconstructed, non-repairable, lemon, theft recovery, or any specific kinds of damage (flood, hail, fire, etc.).

Buying From A For Sale by Owner?

You can try to find the used car of your dreams for sale by its owner, but there are some drawbacks to going that route. First, you’re dealing with a complete stranger and you have no idea if they’re being honest with you, whereas a good used car dealership has a reputation with the customers it has served, and you can easily check into that reputation online. And if you do purchase a car from a private seller and decide you’re not happy with it, you have very few ways to do anything about it beyond suing the seller in small claims court, which is a huge headache.

Buying A Used Cars From An Online Website?

These days you can, of course, buy your car online. But that also comes with its own set of issues and challenges. It’s almost always better when you can look the seller in the eye and see what kind of person they are. And you should always test-drive a car you’re thinking of buying. Shopping for a brand-new car online is fine because they’re all the same coming out of the factory except for color and trim level. Every single used car, however, is different depending on how its previous owner drove it and cared for it (or not). Feel free to do your “window shopping” for your next car online to get an idea of prices and what’s available, but when it comes down to making an actual purchase, you definitely want to see the car in person and test-drive it before signing on the proverbial dotted line.

Watch Out for Scams In the Automotive Industry

There are also all kinds of ways scammer take advantage of unsuspecting car shoppers, and we’ve written about each of them, including title-washing, VIN cloning, Curbstoning, odometer fraud, and the latest scam around getting people to pay for a car with prepaid gift cards. The easiest thing to do is keep this rule of thumb in mind: If a deal on a used car seems too good to be true, then it is probably exactly that – too good to be true because it’s a scam. It’s a sad state of affairs when you have to worry about all these different scams, but you can avoid all of them by working with the right used car dealership that has a great reputation for always doing things right.

How To Buy a Great Used (Or New To You) Car

When you’re an educated car shopper, you’ll be able to shop for a used car with confidence anywhere, anytime. After setting yourself up beforehand with all the information and knowledge presented above, now you can get into the details of finding your next ride.

    Negotiating Price For The Vehicle

The reason many people hate shopping for new cars or pre-owned vehicles is the negotiation process. It’s easy to get emotional about a car, but it is best to keep your feelings in check. Car buying is a business transaction – nothing more, nothing less. Car salespeople sell cars every day, and they are typically very good at incrementally moving you to the deal they want to give you. However, because of the research you can do at sites like ours, you have more knowledge about the transaction at your fingertips than you’ve ever had before. If the thought of haggling over the price of a used car makes you nervous, limit your search to reputable dealerships in your area that take the firm up-front price approach. And if you do shop at a place where haggling happens, just remember that you always have the power of walking away if at any time you feel pressured or if it’s not going your way. Have printouts from CARSHOPPER about pricing and be prepared to back your offers up with information about dealer cost and demand for the vehicle you’re trying to buy. In the end, the price you get will likely be a little higher than you offered initially and a bit lower than the dealership proposed. That's how negotiations work. Remember, you can always walk away if you don’t like the dealership’s offer or attitude.

Checking a Car In-Person and Test Driving The Vehicle.

We always recommend not just looking at a car in-person, but also test-driving it, which is the only way to know whether or not it feels right. A good test drive includes a lot more than just driving. Before you ever start the car, you'll want to adjust the driver's seat to a comfortable position where you can reach all of the controls. Adjust the mirrors and make sure you can see what you need to be able to see. If you have comfort or visibility problems now, you’ll probably still have them 10,000 miles down the road, so never assume you’ll get used to them. Be sure to bring along any car seats or pet crates you use to ensure that they can be used correctly in the vehicle. You never want to buy a car – new or used – without a thorough test drive of the specific vehicle you are considering. It’s not good enough to drive one that is similar to the one you’re looking at, as not every vehicle leaves the factory perfect, and the test drive is a great time to discover any issues with quality. If you’re checking out a car for sale privately by its owner, find out why they’re selling the car and pay attention to what kind of person they seem like – can you trust them? And if you are able to get a history report on a car, make sure you know How to Read a Used Car History Report. Your initial exterior inspection is when you look carefully for anything that seems off, such as mismatched panels or windows with different labels (both of which could indicate an accident), and any obvious defects in the body or paint. Also pay special attention to the tires to see if the treadwear is even as well as how old they are. When you test-drive the car, you want to make sure everything inside works the way it’s supposed to, and pay attention to how the car runs and what the handling feels like (such as if it pulls to one side, smooth braking, etc.). Finally, we always recommend you have a trusted mechanic give it a thorough inspection to see if they find anything wrong that you might have missed.

    AUDI

Audi has been on a tear for the last couple years redesigning everything in their portfolio this year they're going to be rolling out and filling out their lineup with high-performance s and rs various what they are bucking the SUV Trend by Trent reducing some wagons in particular the A6 Allroad is back it offers the versatility of an SUV but wardriving engagement like a smaller car the big news though is this Mad Dog the RS6 Avant with 600 horsepower in a matching six-figure price tag it's an entirely different take on family hauling Audi also brought a sportback version of the intron crossover Springs with its oh my goodness wing-like about the intron but it takes a hit for practicality this swooping rear roof wing it cuts into rear Headroom by almost a full inch there's also a pretty decent hit for cargo capacity to but the shape is more aerodynamic and ends up getting about 10 miles of electric range also returning is my favorite Audi vr8 for 2020 and gets a slight styling update but it also gets a little bit of a horsepower pump for the base model it is the best way to live out your Tony Stark fantasies. Cool doors are still cool, nothing quite like it on the road. It looks like a Supercar and has the practicality of a Supercar but doesn't really have the performance of a Supercar it's EV mile range.

    BMW

BMW for 2020 comes in this unique limited edition in color scheme and whether you get it in the two plus two configuration or The Roaster configuration like this when you can guarantee that there's nothing else like it on the road today let's take a second and just appreciate how good this M8 looks quite pretty indeed it's hard to deny the appeal of a vehicle quite like this date series and 8 Series Gran Coupe and that's what the M8 is based off of this is very appealing car as it should be ridiculous price starts around 1:50 if you step into the competition package to get around 617 horsepower in the base car has 600 horsepower very Stout of course the performance henschel of a large luxury sedan like this are kind of dubious if you want something a little bit more sports car minded there's the M2 CS behind me weird name aside the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe has effectively become BMWs entry level sedan into pretty attractive went to even if you think all BMWs need to be rear-wheel drive this one's available with all-wheel drive and Power Ranger from 228 301 horsepower if you get the m235i this one here.

BMW X3 xdrive30i e means it's the hybrid version of the X3 it goes on sale next year and that's when we'll know more about its texting figures for the United States would you know now though it's based on the same motor engine and battery pack that you get in the three series that was called the 330 East it less confusing and it should come with its own amount of EV only range we've been seeing prototypes for a while but now Bollinger is taking pre-orders with delivery slated to begin sometime in 2021 this electric Duo the V2 truck and the B1 SUV pack a ton of off road features removable doors and some storage compartments big boxy Jeep Wrangler but all electric and $125,000 to start these are definitely Niche Vehicles especially with rivian bringing a more Affordable Electric truck and suv to the market but they sure look tough.

    Cadillac

When you think of large three-row Cadillac SUVs remind probably wonders over the Escalade but you might want to consider the xt6 sit around new $50,000 range in packs a lot of standard safety comfort and Technology features as well as also handsome real full-size adult arrest turo takes a crucial their cargo space so you got to decide whether you're going to haul family or cargo Cadillac ct4 and you can guess which one is the big one which was a small one congratulations you at least have a basic level of deductive reasoning these are appealing Vehicles one because they're attractive too because Cadillac prominent never been driving Dynamics so expectantly how to drive three Cadillacs address from the bigger problems we've had with previous models which is interior quality namely the Center Entertainment touch screens which word that have a nightmare super Cruise which on some freeways provides of the hands-free Driving Experience taken altogether option among other luxury sedans 21

    Chevy

Chevy Colorado is slightly refreshed with new looks up front and do lettering on the rear tailgate but it's not the same platform same power drains and same interior as before and unfortunately for the Colorado and it's GMC brother that they still have to do battle with Off Road Kings like the Jeep Gladiator in Toyota Tacoma and extremely well-rounded Honda Ridgeline Chevy Silverados one of those capable and one of the most popular vehicles on sale in America today 2020 it's a new tech features like adaptive cruise control in a trailer in camera system that can support up to 15 cameras and under the hood if you want you can now get a 3 liter diesel but even though it's significantly improved Silverado still falls behind the ram in the Ford in our overall rankings the old name of the new face the Chevy Trailblazer is a small SUV that fits in between the tracks and the larger Equinox small three-cylinder powertrains and the choice of to trim levels this kind of sporty looking and the more outdoorsy oriented active prices are going to start just below $20,000 and the Trailblazers and come within press list of standard features this is one of the biggest debuts of the year.

The Chevy Corvette has gone mid-engine it gets a 6.2 liter V8 495 horsepower clutch gearbox tables that are nearly double the price and is quickly becoming one of our favorite sports cars by the looks might be up for debate the performance is definitely settled and this is a Corvette for the history books the Chrysler Pacifica is our number 2 ranked minivan thanks to its surprisingly sonorous V6 and excellent cargo flexibility because of those stow and go seats course those seats are a little less comfortable than some competitors we also appreciate the plug-in hybrid versions 30 plus miles of all-electric rain for this year the Voyager nameplate is making a return but it's essentially just a base model of the Pacifica feature Loadout is really the only difference sadly there's no wood trim option badges new Wheels Unique Interior options and a brand new color appropriate for a golden jubilee Dodge cuz it Gold Rush we think they should have called it an anniversary for 2020.

    Dodge

Dodge is offering a wide-body package on its Hellcat and Scat Pack 3 and 1/2 in which makes room for wider tires charger there plenty of trim options with the six-cylinder and 5.7 Hemi so you can still enjoy the comfortable interior the excellent styling and the great infotainment system that keeps the charger top 5 in a ranking by far.

Ram 1500 is our number one ranked full size pickup truck and has a really comfortable interior and a high-tech user interface.  For 2020 the Ram 1500 gets a new Diesel Powertrain added to the line of the control over 12,000 lb and it enters the tailgate Wars with a new 60/40 split.

    Ford

Ford is the all new all electric Mustang Maki this however is no muscle car it's actually an SUV about the size of a Ford Escape it will offer the choice of rear or all-wheel drive and two battery sizes it'll be available beginning the fall 2020 with prices starting around $40,000 if you want to know more about this vehicle you can check out CARSHOPPER.COM. it's been a big year for Mustang from the new Maki to the new high performance package for the 4-cylinder EcoBoost which makes it incredibly Dynamic on this subtle 760 horsepower Shelby GT500 it's new to joining the Shelby GT350 flat-plane crank V8 the Mustang is currently CARSHOPPER number one ranked muscle car and imagine why the Escape has been overhauled for 2020 replete with sporty or exterior styling a rumor interior and for new powertrains to turbocharged engines plus a hybrid and plug-in hybrid variant the sportiest Escape packing 250 horsepower is estimated return 26 miles per gallon combined all the hybrid is rated at 41 miles per gallon with up to 30 miles of electric range if you off the plug-in version is a lot riding on this new Escape since Ford will soon be getting out of the sedan making business which leaves just this and the extra small equal sport in their entry-level vehicle portfolio we were thrilled when we heard the all new 2020 Explorer with returning to a rear drive base platform for SUVs that generally amounts to better Towing and driving Dynamics which the new Explorer delivers in space what we weren't expecting was a comparatively high price Prices range anywhere from the mid-30s upper 50s which is a bit hard to stomach when you see what the competition is offering for thousands less

The Expedition became our favorite non luxury full-size SUV shortly after it was redesigned for 2018 and when it's over with its exceptional passenger Comfort user-friendly Tech and its ability to tell over 9,000 lb updates are rather light with the biggest news being Ford Co pilot360 which is a suite of Advanced Driver AIDS that's now standard across all Expedition the ranger was reintroduced to the US market last year to a mixed reception for 2020 Ford is offering a new FX2 package on all wheel drive Rangers at any trim level includes an electronic locking diff off-road tires and offer tune suspension and off-road screen within the gauge cluster and body decals now for $595 that's a bargain sure you don't get the Advanced Pain Management and Trail control that you would in an FX4 package in all wheel drive Ranger like you see here but you at least get the off-road looks and some of the capability for less than half the package cost.

    Genesis

Genesis G90 looks pretty different on the outside but under the skin a lot stays the same that's not actually a bad thing the Genesis G90 is a big plush luxury sedan with available executive seating in the back and it really excellent stereo and I mean just check out these wheels on the inside you'll find upgraded trim like some nice open-pore wood and a infotainment system but now supports Android auto and apple carplay a welcome addition and the Genesis G90 is significantly less costly than its top competitors redesign just a year ago.

    GMC

GMC Sierra 1500 get some significant dates for 2020 that available adaptive cruise control now as well as a trailer in camera system that supports up to 15 cameras under the hood you can also now get a 3 liter Diesel Powertrain and the top it all off it was our tailgate Wars with the 6-way power folding multipro rear tailgate the Sierra 2500 is completely redesigned 423 uses its little brother 1500 as a template it also gets the multipro rear tailgate along with updated technology and updated interior and improve Towing and Hauling capability unfortunately for the 2500 it has really strong Rivals like a ram in the Ford just got an uphill battle.

    Honda

There are no significant changes for the Honda Accord and 2020 but I didn't stop us from recommending this extremely well executed sedan it's stylish fun to drive and hits big with utility competitors have been updated or redesigns this car came out but the Accords still shines brightest in the class the Honda Civic is CARSHOPPER’S top-ranked small sedan and yes we know this is a two-door SI we'll talk about that in the second kind of gets small addition throughout the model range for example to hatchback get additional sound deadening and yes I like this one here gets ashore final drive which makes acceleration feel a bit more lively with prices ranging between 20 to $30,000 there's a promotion Shoppers in all of them aren't easy recommendation the big addition to the Honda CRV. This year we should mention to us are top-ranked small SUV is a hybrid model the drivetrain of the Honda Accord Hybrid it has 212 horsepower though fuel economy numbers have been released yet but if we had to guess it be around 40 MPG the rest of the additions to specifically the base engine is no longer available so all you have is the one and a half liter turbo 4-cylinder and that's the one we recommend any way in size SUV and for good reason it's actually it's a Honda Pilot without the third row and with a bit shorter length of that vehicle without of course that's eating in a very compelling package their new changes for 2020 and that's okay cuz it's still a really good car.

    Hyundai

The 2020 Hyundai Kona is our top rated extra small SUV for its Pepe handling and acceleration it's comfortable interior and user-friendly technology the addition of adaptive cruise control for this year only makes it better the one drawback is maximum cargo capacity is your top priority might be worth checking out a competitor V Hyundai Palisade is an upscale midsize 3 row SUV with plenty of room in all three rows and lots of comfort and Technology features it would have upset the segment and stolen the top spot in the rankings if not for its corporate twin the Kia Telluride that's not a knock against the excellent Palisade which you prefer between the two really comes down to what kind of personality want from your vehicle with the Palisade offering more of the on-road luxury Vibe between the pair new look I mean just check out these daytime running lights the other thing is a ton of features the new Sonata really is a showcase for Hyundai's next generation of Technology you'll get the ability to use your cell phone as a key you can pull the Sonata in and out of parking spaces remote late and on the interior you get this big new infotainment screen and a digital display instead of a traditional gauge cluster if you want the latest features from your sedan the Sonata should be on your list.

    Jeep

Jeep Wrangler is one of the most capable off-road vehicles on sale today and in other news the sky is blue and water is wet this current generation is more comfortable high tech and user-friendly than ever before my mother some compromises made a long way for off-road capability this is the most livable Wrangler the jeep has ever made for someone who doesn't want to spend Wrangler money but once the Jeep looks Choice interior in a high-tech user interface the most of the lifted hatchbacks in this segment quick or something it's quiet in another Direction well the Gladiator will solve that problem is based on the same platform as the regular so it's got much of the off-road capability but it's got that pickup truck bed in the back and utility it's only our number 2 ranked midsize pickup truck because it's behind the super practical Honda Ridgeline the Jeep Cherokee is in one of the most Competitive Cyclist on the market compact crossovers it goes up against well-rounded Vehicles like the Mazda CX-5 and Honda CRV and while it is her favorite in the segment would you like it for its impressive off-road capability and its high-tech interior with a comfortable highway ride.

    KIA

The Kia Soul and the larger Kia Sportage in terms of price and size starting run around $22,000 like a lot of subcompact crossovers it benefits from the convenience of an SUV but it's in a smaller package that's easier to drive and more economical the Celtics distinguishes itself with a slightly taller ride height and available all wheel drive which isn't available on the soul or the Nero that means you can do some pretty light off-roading but you will have to wait until spring to get one and you wouldn't think you'd have to wait to get yourself a Telluride because it's been on sale for a while but you'd be wrong parent Leake you can't make them fast enough to meet demand that's really no surprise because the Telluride is our favorite SUV and not just midsize 3 row SUV it's her favorite SUV. With a lot of power tons of features and an incredibly refined interior if you need something this big put it on your shortlist. The Stinger is mostly unchanged for 2020 but it does that a new mid-range GTS trim at a time when Sleek sedans seem to be Eclipse when mass-market SUVs the Stinger is a refreshing detour with the convenience of hatchback strong performance and has a very generous warranty who says fun is dead the defender is back National launch but it is very cool to see it here at home 20/20 Defender promises strong off-road performance and lots of customization options including two different engine choices but it looks cool I think it looks cool.

    LAND ROVER

2020 Evoque Land Rover has gone a little more mainstream it's bigger for more legroom and it has new interior Tech like a dual screen infotainment system there's also a hybrid powertrain option I think it looks like a smaller Discovery sport Lexus took the wraps and the top off the 22 LC 500 convertible we thought the cupola great but it seems as if DLC was destined for ruthless design from the beginning which is another way of saying that it looks fantastic there are 471 horses generated from a 5-liter V8 which also happens to make wonderful sounds this convertible will make it all the better to enjoy and can operate at speeds of up to 31 miles per hour so you're not stuck playing stoplight roulette.

    LEXUS

Lexus IS most popular SUV and my new favorite because it has a surfboard on the roof is the RX for 2020 received a slight refresh with new front and rear styling and a revised suspension for sharper handling the 2020 RX is also the first and lexuses lines offer Android auto smartphone integration alongside apple carplay and those can be projected on a new optional 12.3 inch touchscreen thankfully this replaces the old and clunky system with remote touch.

    LINCOLN

Lincoln's previous small SUV the Corsair is based on the Ford Escape but Lincoln has worked hard to distinguish itself from Ford with B specific design options new tech and different engine options including a plug-in hybrid then of course there are those Freight Lincoln Interiors it's not a pair of sunglasses and it has little in common with The Aviator of the early 2000.

The 2020 Lincoln Aviator is based on a Ford Explorer but with its own exterior and interior. Lincoln's Interiors recently you know that's a good thing it's quiet cabin and turbocharged V6 make a cruiser and there's a plug-in hybrid option for even more power and better fuel economy what a world we live in if you've got the garage space and you want to fill it with you at like luxury the Lincoln Navigator is are picked for top boat I mean our Pick 4 most highly rated large luxury SUV ever since its introduction the Lincoln Navigator has consistently top star ratings because of gorgeous interior and impressive performance for 2020 safety features become standard but what hasn't changed is The Navigators impressive tow rating 8600 lb you can tell about with this vote if it seems like there's a lot of weird half sizes between conventionally sized SUVs.

    MAZDA

Mazda’s CX-30 it sits between the slightly smaller CX-3 slightly larger CX-5.The starting price is right around $23,000 and it also pushes Mazda’s styling Evolution just a little bit further while other companies are going with sharp deep creases Mazdas going with these graceful smooth out arches that set them apart from anything else on the road.  As a Mazda we also expect the CX-30 to drive better than its Rivals from Honda and Toyota.

    MERCEDES

Mercedes Benz A-Class is luxury sedan that we like a lot of run for its money it's a weird thing to say but we live in a world where finding a 600-horsepower luxury SUV is actually pretty easy now and it's gonna be even easier come next year with the addition of the x5m and the x6m standard. Guys these things make 600 horsepower in their competition trim they put that figure to 617 horsepower the rears are 22s what a world we live in this is the

Mercedes-Benz immediately claimed to best-in-class it has all the things you want for Mercedes SUV of refined interior tons of comfort lots of tech but this time around they dropped something crazy on us it's the gle63s from AMG with 603 horsepower that's just Bonkers for the I don't know wealthy parents with racing aspirations baby and if you need more space they also rolled out being GLS Angie version with similar output what they didn't roll out though is the top-of-the-line GLS Maybach Edition we don't have full specs on it yet but we can guarantee it is going to be over the top and every way

    MINI

Mini is jumping in the SUV game with the hardtop 2-door Cooper S E this isn't a Tesla killer, this is more of an alternative to a more affordable City runabouts like the basic Nissan Leaf for the Volkswagen e-golf prices should start under $30,000 and the EPA range is likely to come in around a hundred and twenty miles more stylish adding that many personality to the battery electric formula might just make this a compelling choice for consumers looking for an electric car or jelly was an instant hit for

    NISSAN

Nissan Rogue doesn't receive any significant changes for 2020 but it remains a highly attractive vehicle does Shoppers looking for an inexpensive compact SUV interior space and that's really what you get with this SUV that and comfortable seat now Driving Experience kind of pales in comparison to our favorite SUV in the segment the Honda CRV but the Rogue delivers the basics this slightly smaller Rogue sport get some small changes for 2020 especially a different look front rear bumpers are updated and Nissan sweet of safety features is now standard on the base trim if that's because Ford Chevy and RAM introduces new generations of their respect the Titans been updated for 2022 fortunately it's powertrain gets a new nine speed automatic transmission and its 5.6 liter V8 gets a small power pump to now 400 horsepower and 413 pound feet of torque there's additional standard safety equipment and and available 9-inch Center touchscreen who the starting price from the low-to-mid $3,000 range that makes a Titan a pretty compelling value with 2020.

Nissan Sentra's new generation model actually looks pretty good to and  its wired a bit lower in height than the outgoing generation and the interior gets special mention to be pretty attractive.  The engine is a 2 liter 4 cylinder with about 150 horsepower.

    PORSCHE

Porsche Cayenne promises the performance of a real sports car but also the driving experience of a Cadillac.   It's a really fascinating combination of the two available on a couple different motor and Battery configurations from the Turbo S which has eye-watering acceleration and top speed and price down to this more realistic for S which starts at $2,000 has over 500 horsepower and could be a real competitor to the Tesla Model S.  The most recent generation of the Porsche Cayenne was introduced last year, this year pay attention to luxury SUVs for while the Modern Trend with coops trade a little bit of rear Headroom and cargo space for a more sweepy roofline that mimics what you would find on an actual 2 door coupe the Cayenne Coupe cost a little bit more than the equivalent cayenne and it gets all the same trim level so you can get a Cayenne Turbo and Turbo S e-hybrid with all the hubbub around the new Porsche tycan can a Porsche 911 may not be able to tell from the outside because it doesn't look that different. This  is more apparent inside we see the new gauge cluster and all the touch-sensitive controls on the center console earlier this year I really enjoyed it because it's a 911 starting to run $100,000 this car gives you really more than you could ever need from a sports car.

    SUBARU

Ascent is the largest vehicle that Subaru makes offering three rows of seating and space for seven a passengers while it isn't at the top of our list for midsize 3 row SUVs we do like it for its standard all-wheel-drive it's powerful turbocharged engines and it's responsive touch screen infotainment system for 2020. The ascent as a standard rear seat reminder alert and power folding side view mirrors the Subaru Forester redesign just last year and offers and great blend of many things from a comfortable cabin and ride to strong safety and text features there's even the new Lane centering function which gets added to its Tanner list of driving games all I really need is just a little more power and we be big fans the word legacy has different meanings but super is looking to leave a positive impression with their new midsize sedan for 2022 Legacy has been redesigned and it's still the only one in the class offer standard all-wheel drive and optional 260 horsepower 2.4 liter engine should help draw some fans as well as Subarus comprehensive of Advanced Driver AIDS which comes standard the Outback is Subaru's midsize SUV and one of our frail favorites would someone mistake for a tall wagon but don't let appearances deceive you this wagon to perform at many so-called SUVs with standard all-wheel drive and surprisingly generous ground clearance of the Outback has been fully redesign and is offered with two engines one which is a 260 horsepower turbocharged 4-cylinder is also a new 11.6 inch tablets tile interface for the infotainment system which just looks awesome.

    TESLA

Tesla CEO Elon Musk unveiled the bizarre-looking Cyber truck lofty targets include a max tow rating of over 14,000 lb payload of over 3,500 account and zero to 60 mile-an-hour acceleration in less than 2.9 seconds in the most powerful version while Tesla has announced pricing and is taking pre-orders this thing is still two years away from delivery at a minimum the Cyber truck can make you forget all about the model why but it should be available sometime during 2020 it's an SUV ish version of the model 3 promising similar range performance a little more cargo space music bility in a slightly higher price tag we have one on order we bone 2 model 3 for a few years now yet answer the question of what's new for this year is difficult because Tesla doesn't do updates like any other automaker more like your phone where you wake up one morning and it has new features this experience is unlike any other car out there and combined with the model 3 it makes easily from one of the most compelling EV sedans you can buy what's left to say about the model S and model X well we really like the S at the time this recording and has a simple ordering process great range and ridiculous or rather ludicrous acceleration and the model X well the doors look neat but severely limit the utility part of SUV but hey at least it's fast.

    TOYOTA

Toyota Mirai and it's not ugly white sedan is going to hit our markets at the end of 2020 and it's a welcome to Parker from let's say the awkward styling of its predecessor it's also going to be rear-wheel drive and Toyota claims will have 30% more range I need you can go up to 400 miles on the future of hydrogen especially when you consider that electrification is far more accessible example Toyota's best-selling vehicle gets a new hybrid model in this the RAV4 Prime this plug-in hybrid gifts and 83 horsepower boost over the standard hybrid what should push ups at 60 miles an hour a full 2 seconds quicker. Toyota also claims it'll return 39 miles of electric only range when it goes on sale in the summer it'll only be offered in sporting SE and XSE trims with all-wheel drive we recommend the hybrid RAV4 over the standard RAV4 and expect this even better

    VOLKAWAGEN

The Volkswagen Atlas comes in 5th place and our midsize 3 row SUV rankings was knocked down a couple of spots this year by the introduction of the Hyundai Palisade and Kia Telluride.  Still the atlas is a practical SUV for families it's just a bit down on Power and personality for 2020 Volkswagen is trying to kick the personality up a notch with the introduction of the atlas cross sport this is a more aggressively styled turo version of the atlas with a sportier personality thank you for reading.
