Types of mattresses and what you need to know about them
Mattresses are integral to our physical and emotional well-being. Imagine how a day will go if your previous night’s sleep didn’t go well. Hence, if your sleep pattern was sporadic in the recent past, maybe you should consider changing your mattress to improve your sleep pattern. Moreover, scientific study has proven that people who sleep well tend to enjoy a better social and emotional life than those who do not.
There are plenty of varieties of mattresses to choose from. In this write-up, we introduce you to some such varieties which you can consider the next time you plan to get yourself a new mattress.
1. Innerspring mattress
As the name suggests, an innerspring mattress uses steel coils as the support system for your body weight. The springs are positioned at equal distances from the mattress surface beneath the cloth bedding. A more number of coils means better suspension and better quality of sleep.
2. Hybrid mattress
A hybrid mattress is a combination of steel coils and other forms of support systems like foam or latex. They tend to bring together the benefits of different varieties of beds. Hybrid mattresses are ideal for those who dislike the unequal suspension of an innerspring mattress.
3. Waterbed
Waterbeds use intact water chambers as the cushion system. There are two types of waterbeds – soft-sided and hard sided. Waterbeds may not be the ideal choice for elders, but for teens and kids this means a lot of fun. The constant wobble can indeed provide a good deal of comfort by adapting to the exact body shape of the sleeper.
4. Foam mattress
Foam mattresses use artificially produced foam or latex material as the cushion layer. Being artificial in nature, they can be manufactured in a variety of sizes. Hence, one can pick foam mattresses in round, oval, semi-circle or a variety of odd shapes other than just a square or rectangle.
