Thanks Scott!

That really helps! I have an ad tracker with my hosting and ar blah blah blah...so I will run a report.

By the way - if anyone is signed up for bit.ly, you can customise your shortened link...but it also tells you how many times that link has been clicked...I was surprised at the info.

Food for thought.

Thanks again Scott!

You should always track when you're promoting so you know what's working and where are you getting results.

Just keep doing it.

It's the slight edge in action.

The slight edge is:
Finding a few people to do a few simple things over a period of time.

I highly recommend you get the book "The Slight Edge" by Jeff Olsen.
It is an awesome book to read.

Absolutely Terri!

Tracking will help you maximize your marketing efforts.

It also helps if you have a narrow niche or micro niche. You are marketing to a lot less people, but these people will be more receptive to what you have to offer.

You MUST gave a target market, and to do that you have to do research on who it is you want to reach. That's your target market.

You want to target people that are looking for what you have to offer.

You can't go after all the people that's on the internet, you just want to get a mob of people that are wanting what you have to offer.

Simple enough, when it's done right.

For that to happen you need skills and training, and I can help you with that.

I always try to keep active on all the major TEs as part of branding, but to be honest I get much better conversions from the mid-size TEs, EasyHits4U generates me a lot of page views and click throughs, but the bounce rate and quality of traffic they produce really doesn't stand up.. meanwhile a medium to smaller TE like surf to earn or traffic guru generate me much higher quality traffic, better click throughs which are then funneling into more pageviews and more conversions than from some of the major sites..

but it's important to get your face and name on as many places as possible for branding strategy, but for conversions I personally focus on small-medium sized TEs

Melissa mentioned bit.ly for short, customizeable links and click tracking. Bit.ly can tell you more than just how many links on a particular link, but also which site the clicks came from, and in most cases which country the clicks are coming from, too.
Tracking your promotions is vital, particularly when using traffic exchanges. I wasted so much time clicking away at some of the major TE's and didn't know they weren't sending me any hits, until I started tracking.
Since I started creating 2 or 3 different versions of each ad, and started tracking results, I've quit using most of the TE's I'm a member of, because they just weren't responsive compared to the one that I still use.
