HAHAH Bill!

Looks virtually mean nothing. Superficial and meanless. It's just something you look at...it isn't the real you.

Thank God that our worth is not based on our looks...

Now I wish I had a "lie-o-meter" when on the TE's...as looks aren't everything....

When looking at TE's, My lie-o-meter starts to red-line when I see certain things.

Piles of cash
Exotic cars
piles of cash
Yachts
piles of cash
scantily clad women
Did I mention piles of cash?

Hi Bill,

nice lie-o-meter - but people go for it..... Knowing about it and being attracted at the same time....

These 'piles of cash' a picture that we all have inside us are our motivation to go ahead in a solid way. Great joy, when the first $$$ are coming in to build our own 'pile of cash' without shouting it out in your quoted awful manor. :)

Make it a great day.

You are right Solare, it is effective much of the time. That is the oldest trick in the marketing playbook. Play on the emotions of the prospective customer.
All that imagery of money, cars and the like stirs up emotion in people, and hence they are motivated to click.
Fortunately, most people become wise to these tricks fairly quickly. Some will chase that "Quick Fix" 'til the ends of the earth.
It is nice when the money starts coming in. I can vouch for that. Sadly, many of these sights are misleading at best, and a downright scam at worst. The Ponzi scheme is alive and well today.

Very interesting thread here, hope no one minds my 2 cents and possible insights from over 3 yrs and at least 20 TE's of all sizes.
The longer established and huge member tally exchanges can tend to not be very productive in a lot of cases, many from having been "used" in various programs over the years as fodder for newbies to the online earnings clan. Some of the "rankings" sites have been used in similar programs which tends to skew the results, in my opinion and experience.

As for smaller, start-up TE's, it's nice to try to help them grow, but I've been burned several times by owners who offered PRO memberships to the first so many people, then after promoting their site and gaining them members, both free and paid upgrades, they simply revert my status to free, or disappear with my credits and earned fees - it's easy to get burned.

As far as the splash page/squeaze page controversy goes, that ties in with the multi-site surfing that's been made popular by some "programs". Squeaze pages are best overall because they capture the email; splash pages being next because they are smaller and hopefully grab attention quickly by being different. Just adding a link to a long sales page in practically any TE is not efficient. They take too long to load, and most surfers won't even bother trying to read them.

While surfing TE's is still useful, many surfers have been misled by certain "programs" which instruct them to join tons of TE's, but once they're a member of said "program" - DO NOT WHATEVER YOU DO CLICK ON ANY OTHER PAGES - just surf 5 or 10 in rotation to get that "program's" page seen by others.

The exchange I've been having the best results with [TTP], and the next few with results, but not as good - have all given more bonuses or extra credits/banners/texts for surfing higher numbers of sites, getting your sites seen more for the same amount of surfing than at a larger number of sites at once.

Hope some of this made sense and was helpful. There's lots of "programs" out there now that actually use/abuse surfers and TE's for their own gain by misleading or misdirecting them in the guise of helping them.

Thanks Scott!

Great post!

I think we all have to find our way...something that works for one, might not work for another.

I like TE's but I don't want to spend my life surfing (unless I lived in CA LOL)

Personally, I prefer building relationships, and networking....I have just seen a site called SWOT that I joined - it's for networkers and business people......I find everyone so friendly...it's very different.....

Now back to the TE's, I use a rotator with the sites I want to advertise on it. Just one link for each site. I find it easier that way

Keep your stick on the ice!

Melissa

Thanks Melissa, hope it was helpful.
You mentioning about not wanting to surf forever was a good point to bring up. Once you've found an advertising venue of any type, TE's included, the idea is to figure out what the lifetime value of the client is, and how many displays of your ad it took to get them. Then, look into buying hits from that source instead of spending your time surfing there.
If one TE is giving you good results and you earned some money, it would be worth considering upgrading there, for higher credit earnings for the same amount of time, and better pricing if you wish to buy hits, and higher commissions from referrals you bring in.

If you've been getting one $25 sale from every 2,000 views on average, and you could buy 2,000 views for $10, you'd be profitting $15 and not needing to surf to do it.
