Just like with other music, there many musical styles to be found in Christian music, from old traditional hymns and choruses to contemporary rock rhythms and ballads.

What kind of Christian music do you enjoy the most?

Which Christian performers are your favourites? Who do you recommend?

Do you have a favourite CD or album to recommend?

Feel welcome to share any of the above, or discuss anything about any kind of Christian music that you would like to.

GT :-)

I've mentioned in the other favourite music discussion group that I enjoy music of many styles, and the same holds true for Christian music.

Sometimes, it's the musical style that appeals to me. Sometimes it's the vocal style of the performer. And, of course, quite often it's the message in the lyrics that touches me deeply.

I don't know that I have a "favourite" Christian performer or album at the moment, but here is a group and an album that I often find myself sticking in the CD player:

==> Band: Downhere
==> Album: Wide-eyed and Mystified

The music leans toward contemporary rock and I enjoy all of the tracks.
I recommend this CD!

I don't recall if this was a group, or simply a group effort, and I haven't kept up with their recent work, but a few years ago I bought a couple of Christian music collections called "WOW" music featuring a variety of styles and a whole lot of uplifting inspiration and encouragement.

When I'm looking to change the CDs in the player, when I spot the WOW discs, I like to pop 'em in and enjoy the tunes.

Here is a great Christian disc that's a few years old now, but the music is still uplifting and a pleasure to listen to.

It is called "Keeper" and it was produced by the church that my daughter and her family attend, Faith Alive Family Church in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. Website, www.fafc.ca

A few of the song titles are:

- Jesus is the King
- More Than a Friend
- Shine
- Walk on the Water

The disc has another 10 tunes besides the above.

Check out their website. They might still have copies of this CD available!

The Christmas season is almost past us for another year, but Christian music continues!

This is just a reminder and an invitation to our Christian members to consider posting information about your favourite group or album (or single, for that matter).

I find that a lot of music (whether Christian or not) is uplifting for me. I like the beat, or the melody, or the lyrics. The difference (or added value) with Christian music is that it is often spiritually uplifting and inspirational for me.

Personally, my Christian belief is built on faith, as it is with most believers, that goes beyond human reasoning; by human standards, it doesn't seem to make sense. It is simply a confidence I feel that I attribute to the indwelling of the Spirit of Christ. I consider it a blessing.

Anyway! This group is about music! Please feel welcome to post your thoughts about your favourite Christian music.

GT :-)
