Hey IM faceplate friends! As the title states, what is YOUR favourite Christmas Music album, or your list of favourite albums?

Here are my Top 3:

1) Cyndi Lauper, Merry Christmas... Have a nice life!

2) Barenaked Ladies, Barenaked for the Holidays

3) Sarah McLachlan, Wintersong

Cyndi Lauper's was my top fave for years, but then I found the Barenaked Ladies Christmas album a couple of years ago and it is gaining on Cyndi.

But then, last year, I heard about and bought Sarah McLachlan's Christmas CD and with the voice of an angel, she is quickly gaining on the other two! lol

(Of course, I have list of other fave Christmas albums, but these are my Top 3.)

What's yours???

GT :-)

Oh! Here's one more!

Before I discovered Cyndi Lauper's Christmas album my favourite one was the Boney M Christmas collection. I always enjoyed their beat and harmonies.

LOL, for those of you have been wondering ... the Barenaked Ladies are neither ladies, nor are they naked!

They are a group of very talented male performers (although a couple of the original members have since left the band) with a whole string of popular hits, including "If I Had a Million Dollars" and "It's All Been Done."

I enjoy ALL of the tunes on their holiday album, including:

- Jingle Bells
- Green Christmas
- Elf's Lament (With Michael Buble)
- Do They Know It's Christmas?
- Hanukkah, Oh Hanukkah
- I Have a Little Dreidel

. . . and many, many more!

Check it out.

Okay ... equal time for performers, lol! Since I listed a few of the BNL Christmas tunes that I like, I'd better give you a few of my favourite Cyndi Lauper Christmas songs from her CD:

- Home on Christmas Day
- Early Christmas Morning
- Christmas Conga (lol, this one makes my grandkids dance)
- Minnie and Santa
- Feels Like Christmas

. . . Who am I kidding? EVERY song on the CD is my favourite! There's 11 tunes in all.

Hey, let's give Sarah McLachlan some equal face time! lol

Here is a tune from her Wintersong album . . . I know you will recognize it because it was originally recorded and made famous by another famous performer.

Happy Christmas: http://youtu.be/eJxgqRoU0ew

(I love this song and Sarah does it justice. Great cover!)

Enjoy.

What is one of YOUR favourite Christmas or holiday music albums?

How about a more recent CD with contemporary artists? I am always open to hearing current artists singing either old tunes or new tunes.

Give me some examples to check out.

Hi, Terri. The Temptations have such wonderful vocals, tones and harmonies. Their rendition of Silent Night is a great one for our list of favourite Christmas tunes!

Thanks for posting this!

Terri brings up a good point about the "classic" Christmas tunes - the "standard" tunes that many of us have grown to know and love. In fact, that many of us grew up with.

I love hearing new songs, especially new songs in contemporary styles. But I also enjoy including a mix of the classics in there, too.

Some of my favourite classics include:

- Silent Night
- O Come All Ye Faithful
- O Little Town of Bethlehem (STILL remember singing it in school, many decades ago!)
- The First Noel
- Away in a Manger

I like hearing these tunes sung by "old" masters and by new, young artists. It's always great to hear new voices singing familiar old tunes!

I've been waiting for someone to mention Elvis!

I wouldn't say that I am a huge Elvis Presley fan, but I do enjoy his singing (and his music-filled movies of so many years ago!)

I have one Elvis CD called "Elvis, Blue Christmas".

In addition to the title song, Blue Christmas, it has seven other tunes, all classic Christmas songs, like The First Noel, Silver Bells, I'll Be Home For Christmas and others. It is a wonderful collection for the holidays!

Any Elvis fans out there?
