I have two favorites from the 80s, the Smiths and Crowded House.

The Smiths - How Soon is Now?

Hello, MegaDox: Thanks for starting this discussion group!

Although I enjoy music of all genres and from all eras, I have a particular interest in music from the 80s! I'm not sure why: perhaps that was when music videos and music channels like MTV and MuchMusic started up.

My favourite performer (not just the 80s, but he had awesome hits and videos in the 80s) is David Bowie.

When I have more time, I'll pop in here periodically to post some 80s faves links!

GT :-)

Good to see you posting in here

How about Peter Gabriel "Sledgehammer"? One of the great videos of the decade.

Marisa, lol, that is one of those "love to hate" tunes! It's a great tune, it's catchy, once it's in your head, it's stuck there all day. But you get tired of hearing it and you groan when it comes on.

But then, it picks you up because of the lively beat and the positive message and you enjoy it anyway! Thanks for posting the link.

GT :-)

A great pick me up song I always play when I feel a little down - Permission to shine by Bachelor Girl

I'm gonna give myself permission to shine
I'm gonna shine so bright
Gonna make every head wanna turn
You're finally gonna see me
Give myself permission to shine
Gonna light up the night
Shine a little of my light on the world

Hi, George: Nice lyrics - uplifting and encouraging.

As I mentioned earlier, I enjoy music of all genres and time periods, but for some reason there is a lot of great music I like from the 80s. I am a huge Bowie fan, but there are others I enjoy, like MJ, Sting, Cyndi Lauper, Pet Shop Boys, 'Weird Al' Yankovic and others.

I'm a member of Blip.fm where you can listen to all kinds of music of your choice all day long (look in my Spotlights for a spotlight on Blip.fm). I try to listen to an assortment of styles and eras, but I always find myself drifting towards the 80s stuff, lol! (Especially Bowie.)

GT :-)

I guess I must not have listened to the radio much in the 80's ..
Kids were mall then.. so I basically know 50's from my sisters songs.., 60] and 70's .. then the 90's when kids were teens ;)

have a Great Weekend everyone
Dee
