@Bill ... regarding your timeline, we haven't actually removed anything from it, but rather just organized it a bit better. So, for instance, if somebody you are following has several entries in your timeline, it will group these items and compress them under that individual. You can expand each individual entry to show all of them by clicking on the link provided below each one (which also shows how many more entries are related to that individual). Having said that, if you feel that something is definitely missing, please let us know because it is likely an oversight and not intentional.

Now, there is one small item that was missing when we launched the update and that was the "more" button at the very bottom of the news feed to show even more items than are loaded by default. Our programmers will ensure that is in the next update to the site very soon.

Overall, the changes we have made (and continue to make) shouldn't remove the ability to do anything, or reduce the information you previously had access to. The only differences should be in the way the information is presented and organized. We will be posting a news update today that will contain some useful information as well as the direction we continue to go.

As always, thanks everyone for your continued loyalty and feedback.

Thanks Tyler. that "MORE" button will be good to have back. For me it's just been a matter of learning how to navigate the site again. I know some people had expressed issues with finding their way around, but I found it quite simple.

The new "Publish and Share" module looks pretty cool. I haven't used it yet, but I can see it will be handy.

Thanks for your reply Bill, and your patience with the new layout :) The new Publish and Share module should be a great addition to the site because it allows members to really share things quickly. It's a fast and easy way to engage with your followers, and connect further with those you are following as well. Hopefully all members will make good use of this new module.

The changes to the layout were mostly centered around quicker access to the sections of the site that are most used (1-click access). Under the old layout, you would need to first click on the "community" tab in order to see the sub-menu which contained all the groups, discussions, spotlights, etc. So, many of these things were essentially hidden and therefore not getting as much attention as they should (especially from new members). And of course the new "home" page now contains additional information that you would have previously needed to dig around for.

But now, with the single menu bar, everything is in plain sight and just a single click away. Although we do recognize that there is now a new learning curve for all members, we hope that everyone will stick it out and eventually find the new layout to be more functional than the old one.

Another area we are really putting focus on is the integration of content into the site. This should help to engage more members in the discussions as well as reading and commenting on articles and spotlights, etc. As some members have pointed out, the majority of the activity is always sustained by a minority of the members (same no matter where you go), and so we are going to put some significant effort into engaging more members.

Exciting times ahead ... that much I can guarantee!

Hey, Tyler: Thanks for the additional insight and encouragement. I particularly appreciate your emphasis on more of the navigational choices being in plain site with key elements of interest being just one click away. Good job!

GT :-)

Tyler, one thing abotu the timeline. It only shows 3 items. Is there another location for it that shows more?

Thanks for the feedback Bill. It looks like maybe a bug. We'll find it and give it the old SQUISH!

Looks like the exterminators did their job. The bug with the timeline has been fixed.

The other issue I have noticed lately is, when I log in, and go immediately to check a PM, it makes me log in again.

Just FYI for the tech team.

Bill

Hey, Bill: I haven't noticed that PM/login problem, but I'll watch for it and see what happens.

Hey GT. It does it in other instances too, but it was doing that before the changes. Sometimes, I'll be logged in and it'll make me log in again before viewing my PM's or commenting on a discussion. Other times it makes me log in again to view a profile. It does it to me on more than one machine too, so I know it's not just a setting on my laptop.
